My wife and I stumbled upon this place randomly after a long day of trudging through Paris. We were tired and grumpy--nothing looked good to us, as we didn't want to go into one of those large shiny touristy places on the big streets, which looked really depressing. Then we saw this place--from the outside it looked interesting, and filled with fun people, so we went in.

Vibe was fantastic--the clientele had energy, and some people were playing board games (not Monopoly, but the contemporary hobby board games like Ticket to Ride, Smash Up, etc.), while others were just having a drink and chatting enthusiastically. Our mood immediately perked up. The menu was fun, laid out like a newspaper called The Kraken Tribune, and each item had its own little quirky slogan. We ordered drinks and food and checked out the extensive gaming bookshelves.

Food was good--we had the beef tartare with foie gras, and the Machete Chicken (I know, silly name). Not mind-blowingly good, but it was all tasty--my favorite might have been the simple potatoes with sour cream and chives that came with the tartare. Drinks were fine. But throw in the fantastic ambience, the board games, and the friendly server, all of which lifted our mood and made us happy again, this place goes down as one of my fond locations in Paris. Highly...

Never again! My 2nd time here was as disappointing as the 1st. As many others have mentioned, the service is slow, it's too loud for conversation, and the drinks are small & expensive. But beyond that, and most importantly, the guy that identified himself as the bar manager was extremely rude. I tried to get him recommend something my visiting American friend might like: something with champagne and maybe something "berry', I said. I always order beer for myself (and I didn't have my glasses to read the tiny-print menu) so I wasn't sure what would be good. This guy REFUSED to give me a suggestion. This was not a language problem because I speak French. I, literally, had to argue with him to force him to give me a suggestion. When i asked him what his name was, he said it was "Sortir"...thinking I wouldn't understand.

Getting a drink at a cocktail bar shouldn't be so difficult. I wouldn't go to this bar again; even if it WAS the last one open before the end of the world. AVOID...

I've been here for the first time in 2015, just wandering around Paris i found this gem, and I've been in love ever since: the inside of this Bar is furnished with all geek/nerd reference, it's your treat to find them all! The prices are normal and both cocktails and food are really good! Unfortunately the menu does not exist in english, so you'll have to translate a bit, but the owner/bartender speaks a little bit, and can help you with the food/drinks choices and also with some rules to basic board games, for you to enjoy! We were in two players and we played Patchword, Quarto and Mr. Jack (with some help from Google). I will always come back to Le Dernier Bar avant la Fin du Monde everytime I get the chance, and it's one of my favourite places in the whole world.

When we visit, this is one of our favorite haunts, a place filled with lots of charming sci-fi memorabilia, including a gremlin in the ceiling, ET greeting you at the door, and the millenium falcon on the way to the bathrooms. This year, it appears a little different than usual, but we still enjoyed ourselves, drinking some new cocktails. There are community games, valuable resources on the wall, and usually there are lively groups of friends that gather and we imagine they are also playing some of these games on a regular basis.
