Went back again to this place and had a similar great experience. Its the interior, the space, the friendly service, the great menu and the very tasteful food....just the perfect combination This time we selected as starters home made tarama with thin toast, followed by an onglet (very tender piece of beef) and a traditional Boeuf Bourguignon and for desert we selected again the prunes soaked in armagnac.... All food had great taste and was served at the right temperature and in a timely manner Definitely still on the list for another visit when we are next in Paris and highly recommended for those after a genuine bistrot experience......but dont forget to make a reservation!!

Service is personalised attentive & efficient but without it being too fast....so you can really enjoy whats presented to you We selected foie gras (goose liver pate), pate en croute (pate in a crust) and home made pasta with deer and finished it off with prunes soaked in armagnac....just amazing! My husband and I had the immense pleasure of enjoying our final meal in Paris at this gem of a restaurant, and it was nothing short of extraordinary. The host Anne sparkled with warmth, kindness, and humor. The staff also attended to our needs with care and genuine hospitality.

As for the food—sumptuous doesn’t even begin to describe it. Most of the dishes are traditional cuisine but each is crafted with such artistry. We had pâté en croute and langoustine bisque for starters and beef wellington and veal kidneys for main dishes. Oh my, they were so so very delicious, all perfectly executed and bursting with flavors. The restaurant also had a very extensive array of wines for wine connoisseurs.

It was the ideal way to cap off our time in Paris. If you’re looking for a dining destination that offers simple but at the same time exquisitely prepared food, wonderful and convivial service, and an atmosphere filled with warmth, go to Au Vieux Comptoir and Anne will make sure you...

We experienced clear discriminatory behavior at this restaurant.

We arrived at 8 PM and the entire place was empty. Yet, the staff insisted that “most tables were reserved” and only allowed us to sit in the far corner. We stayed for nearly three hours — and not a single other guest ever showed up. It felt like we were deliberately being treated differently because of who we are.

Then the food made everything worse: • The seafood had sand in it. • The steak was mostly gristle and bone, barely edible. • Every dish tasted cheap and carelessly made.

Unfriendly service, terrible food, and an uncomfortable atmosphere. I strongly recommend...
