Le Moulin de la Croix Nivert — Restaurant in Paris

Was eager to try this boulangerie after reading all the reviews and being back in Paris... unfortunately I feel quite dissapointed by the food I tried there (maybe I was expecting too much). The service was nice, ladies were super polite. But all we ate was not very fresh and quite underwhelming... you can taste it's today's and it's not stale, but maybe it was sitting there for hours, it lost it's freshness and flavor. We decided to try the award winning croissant and tarte aux pommes. Suprisingly both were not tasting fresh and apples had barely any flavor. I can say the same about butter... it's there but like it isn't really... barely any butter flavor. Croissant was better when I came home and tried it reheated in microwave for few seconds, but still far cry from what I would call award winning (both look and tastewise) and I tried many of them. I liked the croissant framboise the best, it was a 4 out of 5. And escargot pistache chocolate was a 4 too. Croissant was a 4 reheated, from the store it was barely pleasing. Like I was eating a croissant from Lidl. Anyways I don't see what the rave is about. Maybe it's just a matter of taste, I like plenty of butter and to taste it, and nicely...

We've been here twice and have to admit that their products are really good. We loved the croissant beurre! Unfortunately, we still have to deduct three stars since the staff seems to discriminate foreigners. At our first visit, they first took the order of a French person even though he stood behind us in the queue. Even worse, at our second visit we were interrupted in the middle of our order twice because the staff member wanted to serve French people first. My wife and I just enjoyed our first trip to Paris - we found this bakery via TripAdvisor and we were not disappointed - easily the BEST in the city - we had 5 days in Paris and we were here twice - wanted to go the morning of our departure but our early flight wouldn’t allow it - so many choices and everything was second to none - the employees were very friendly and even tho we speak very little French they made us feel very welcomed.
