There are few top-class, value-for-money restaurants in Paris that have such a restful charm as this one. This small, two-room restaurant, not far from the Eiffel Tower, feels rather like an extended living room. It specializes in traditional French food, and prides itself on quality and service. As one enters the restaurant, the sound of customers oohing and aahing over their choices creates lofty expectations. The food is a wonderful galaxy of flavors. The delicious starters include tatin of endive and goat’s cheese dumplings, pumpkin cream, rabbit pâté with pistachio nuts, and home-made foie gras with mango chutney. Main courses offer dishes such as the traditional bœuf bourguignon or homemade confit de canard, with some very special fish dishes, depending on availability. Most recently, we had an exceptional fillet of sea bass, baked on its skin and served atop chopped, sweet fennel, as well as a delicious plate of stir-fried veal strips covered with sesame seeds. The scrumptious desserts feature sponge cake and pink sugared almond with caramel sauce; pear and almond tartlet served with almond oil ice cream; and chocolate cake with pistachio cream sauce. The restaurant is just a short walk from the Eiffel Tower. So, if you get the timing right, you can pop along to see the iron dame sparkle for five minutes, as she does rather spectacularly for the first five minutes each hour at night. It’s a lovely way to cap off...
Read moreOh my- we would give this little slice of Paris delight a 10 star rating! Quiet, quaint and hidden, La P’tit Troquet is everything we wanted the French food experience to be and more. We chose 2 and 3 course meals. The salmon with white potatoes had a uniquely flavorable and tastebud pleasing gravlax sauce that surprised me for blending of seasoning. The Mediterranean eggplant was served chilled and stacked with mozzarella intertwined with a Parmesan crisp on the side. The pan-seared duck was tender with the sweet potato and roasted watermelon reading the pallet. The traditional beef bourguignon was served in a crock with the most tender beef, perfectly cooked potatoes and carrots- divine. I added the 3 local cows cheese and was too full to thoroughly enjoy the 2 Brie’s and Camembert. The seating space is small with antique lighting, and displays of coffee presses, an espresso machine, older telephone and other items. Outdoor seating is available. Reservations are...
Read moreThis is A MUST if you're in Paris! The staff treated us so well and they really go above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect. I have celiac disease, so it makes it challenging sometimes to find a place to eat out. I let the server know about this when we first sat down, and they brought me a special menu that highlighted which options are gluten-free. Then they walked us through the menu explaining which items are OK for me. They also double-checked with the chef just to make sure it was safe. They even made me a special salad, that wasn't on the menu, because there wasn't an apéritif I could eat. They were attentive, and you can tell they truly care.
The ambiance is wonderful, and it's very cozy inside. They have a lot of antiques for decor and everything just works. The presentation is pretty and inspiring. The food is absolutely delicious and we enjoyed everything about this place. It's...
