We stumbled into this place by pure coincidence while returning from the museum on the history of French police nearby (normally we would only enter places which we looked up beforehand and checked the reviews). But, we were so impressed and what a find this place was! We entered at lunch-time, and the place was busy, bubbly and welcoming, with many locals inside having their lunch. There were three of us and we were took the place near the window. The portions we ordered were very big and absolutely delicious, the red wine I ordered, too. The price was also excellent for the area, and the service was very good.
I ordered "Poulet fermier rôti à la broche, grenailles rôties". In comparison to the same dish I ordered at another restaurant just the night before, it was like heaven and hell. La Petite Périgourdine’s version was wonderful and well-cooked, and the only minor minus is that, in my opinion, there should have been just a little bit more vegetables/mushrooms with that chicken.
The desert that my twin brother ordered also looked great, and he said it was delicious. Then, we ordered espressos – they were better than the espressos we ordered elsewhere, so we were also very pleased.
We were there at the time of some students’ protest that was happening outside, but that didn’t lessen our experience and we would definitely be back to this amazing place. I definitely recommend La Petite Périgourdine. It is a real gem in the centre of Paris.
One minus: the waiter did stamp unceremoniously with his feet on my pink rucksack which I placed near my feet while eating and that resulted in some stains that I later removed (but I forgive him as I should have probably hanged it on a hanger or removed it to a more...
Read morePros: 1 of the waiters actually was pleasant, place is lovely with nice decor, Cons: Waitress we had was abrupt took away things before we had finished, actually took away food from from them while they were talking but still eating and they were too in shock to stop her, never seen anything like it. We had to wait half an hour for our water after our glass of wine and asked her twice for it.
Now we move onto the food, If you want your fish not cooked, I never knew Rare was an option for fish. The table next to us asked for it to cooked and the waitress brought the same fish back and rolled her eyes behind their back. and not what it says on the menu.
I had the beef slade, and my jaw is still sore, absolute rubber, and it only came with Mash that was like PVA glue, they said it was the cheese in it but it was almost inedible.
House red was like vinegar. The bread that came when we were halfway through the main course was good only for the pigeons
We asked the table beside us how they heard about the place and it was due to a great review in the Irish Times, and they had booked it as a special treat and I could see their disappointment 😞.
3 of their 4 meals were awful, our meals were terrible, and my wife had the duck, which in itself was nice, but it was unbelievably dry and came with no sauce or vegetables.
As a cherry on top, we got double charged for our drinks and had to request a check of our bill, which was unpleasant, and I suspect a lot of people would not go through the ordeal.
At this point, we were disgusted with the whole ordeal. I would never set foot in this...
Read moreDuring our dining experience, we indulged in a delectable lamb dish accompanied by grilled aubergine and an assortment of other grilled vegetables. I opted for the house specialty steak, which was complemented by an exceptional house mashed potato (aligot) featuring a unique cheese blend.
The serving staff recommended a medium doneness for the lamb, however, considering my partner's preference for a thoroughly cooked dish, we opted for a well-done preparation. Regrettably, this resulted in a slight toughness in the lamb, affecting its overall palatability.
In contrast, the beef steak was cooked to perfection, delivering an exquisite taste experience. While it was served at a lukewarm temperature, it lacked the sizzling heat typically associated with steaks encountered in other establishments and countries. This aspect could be considered a minor drawback.
The house red wine we selected proved to be a refreshing accompaniment to our meal.
The ambiance of the establishment exuded a rustic charm, with a rich historical legacy. Based on this positive experience, I anticipate revisiting the restaurant in the future to partake in a comprehensive...
