Amazing pub where you can drink great cocktails 🍹🍸, a good selection of draft beers 🍺or a large variety of alcohol 🥃
The barmaids/bartenders are cool, speaking both English and French and you don't wait long to be served, of course except when it's crowdy 😊
Prices are really correct according to the service/quality/quantity, compared to other places in Paris where stingy bartenders calculate every ml 😊.
There's a good selection of various genres of music playing all night long (a computer playlist) and the volume is not loud so people can have a chat without shouting 🙂
A food ordering is possible but I don't remember at what time they end the food ordering service.
It's also possible to play darts 🎯 or beer pong at the back of the pub. There are tv screens so i guess you can enjoying watching a game ⚽🏈🏀🎾.
So why the Violon Dingue is a great pub compared to the other ones around? Because there's also an underground floor.
The access is from a spiral stairs and it looks like you are entering to the french catacombs.
When down, the floor is kinda separated in two zones: there's a dancefloor to the right side with a booth to leave your stuff and clothes to a staff member (you have to pay a little fee for that) and to the left side you have a sort of "chill zone" with toilets access upstairs.
Of course, there's a large bar joining the two zones and DJ's 💿🎛️🎧 are performing (I think it's every Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays) from 11pm till 5am! 🔥🔥🔥
The sound system 🔊 looks brand new, sound quality is good and It didn't bleed my ears 😊
The music selection varies from top UK/US charts to other stuff like French/International 80s/90s, Pop-Rock, Disco/Funk, etc...)
The floor is clean, bartenders are nice but you have to wait for you order when it's crowdy (they are only 2 bartender/barmaid to serve 100+ customers).
For the record, I used to go at the Violon Dingue at least 5 to 10 years ago and I must admit the new owners did a great job!
They really managed to make this pub a good place with a better crowd management, drink quality/variety, food ordering, etc..
I definitely recommend the Violon Dingue and will continue to go there enjoying a cold pint of delicious beer...
Read moreViolon Dingue is a stalwart in Paris nightlife history marked in the memories of generations of students as a great place to work into their night out.
Their happy hours are legendary (actually being the first Parisian bar to introduce happy hour back in the 1990s). If you're in a group and want to be able to sit down together on a busy night you might need to reserve a table but otherwise standing room is plentiful as are the choices of drinks in this eclectic watering hole.
If you've not been - take a bunch of your friends over to the left bank and have a great night. I've been popping in there since being in Paris for work in the 90s it's as good as ever - apparently they have a cellar bar now which goes to 5am! Just as well that wasn't a feature when I was 33 years younger.!
I've only rated food 4 as I didn't eat. People seemed to be enjoying their food. If true to form it will be uncomplicated, delicious and just what you need to keep you going on a night...
Bien...
