ā€¼ļøNever Come Hereā€¼ļøThis Restaurant Has Mice ā€¼ļøāš ļø

Mice and Bad Attitude After we finished eating, we actually saw mice running around on the floor—even near our table! When we told the server at checkout, they casually said, « It’s normal in Paris!Ā Ā» I replied that while it might be common in the street but it’s NOT normal for a restaurant! They said the mice came from outside and they couldn’t control it. 😔 This attitude made us furious!

None of the Drinks We Ordered Were Available Almost every drink we wanted to order was out of stock! They had nothing we asked for, and the cocktail we ended up getting tasted like plain water!!!

Clearing Our Plates Before We Finished Eating They took our plates away without even askingā€¼ļøThis was clearly an attempt to rush us out!!! The management here is terrible!

Kick Us Out Since they didn’t have the drinks we wanted, we decided not to order any and just sit for a while longer. Then, a server came over and said that they were closing. We left, only to realize later that they weren’t closing at all-their actual closing time was 2 AM, and other customers were still happily chatting inside.

Racist Behaviorā€¼ļø The worst part? When we first arrived, there were hardly any seats available. We noticed an empty dining room and asked if we could sit there, but a server refused, saying it wasn’t open and that we should sit elsewhere. However, when a group of white English speaking tourists came in right after us and asked the same question, the server immediately led them to that empty room. If you want to discriminate like this, fine—but don’t expect us to stay silent!

This restaurant shouldn’t even exist...

I appreciate the owner wanting more feedback and I am happy to provide it. Overall our experience was fine, really. The Maison Sauvage is a cute kitch-y bar with a fun decor and a lively bunch of guests. My reason for the 2-star review was a few elements that made our experience not worth repeating:Ā 1) two drinks were un-drinkable--I ordered a Grog which tasted like someone had emptied the entire container of honey into the glass, and forgotten the rum. Ordinarily grog is served with a shot of rum in the bottom of a mug accompanied by a pot of hot water and a honey jar. What I received was a pre-made drink that wasn't at all proportionate. I had to ask for an additional shot of rum, and even then it wasn't palatable. My friend ordered a Chablis that she also found undrinkable-- I tasted her wine--it wasn't good. My husband ordered a beer, which was fine, and my friend's husband ordered a glass of red wine which was also fine.2) The tables were sticky, filthy even.Ā 3) The waiter was harassed, he did not like his job. He was happy to talk with his friends coming in and out of the restaurant but clearly unhappy to serve the clients. I do not expect an American level of saccharine service, I do not want it, but I do want a professional.Ā 4) Can there be a centralized place to locate the smokers of Pipes and Cigars? The outdoor enclosed area is much like being indoors. Cigarettes are stinky enough, but cigars and pipes are just noxious. I do not hold this against the Maison Sauvage, not everyone thinks about his neighbor's comfort, but perhaps you can set aside a spot for them to enjoy...

There's no doubt, you want to eat here because of the ambience. There's no place in the world like Paris, because you can sit in these beautiful outdoor cafes and watch the world pass you by. At Maison Sauvage, you are definitely going for the scenery and decor! The food is not a culinary experience, but it does the job. Take your time, sit outside, and enjoy life. If you can't do that here, something might be wrong with you. Don't come here expecting fine dining food and/or service. Expect an amazing place to experience life!! The food is still great and drinks are great too. We had truffle fries, quinoa salad, croque monsieur, and the crispy chicken. Again, the food is secondary to the overall vibe and energy of the restaurant. We came here after an afternoon at the Louvre. It's a great way to unwind from the day and get the evening started.

I bet brunch is an even better experience.

Also, our waiter was really nice. Spoke great english for us, and gave us a drink for being "nice" and celebrating a birthday...
