Worth the wait in the line! Definitely the best boulangerie I've been too in Paris so far. It was recommended to me by the cheese monger a couple of blocks away. They workers are very efficient in managing the line and checking patrons out. Everything looks so enticing. I purchased a half baguette, one croissant, and a creme de vanille (whipped cream stuffed choux bun). The half baguette was the perfect size for my dinner (with all the cheese and butter I bought!). The croissant is the best I've had in the city, perfectly balanced and baked all the way through without being overbaked on the outside. It's not overly glazed like some more posh boulangeries (for show in the pastry case), but just enough to give it a good crunch. This croissant was by far the flakiest one I've had. The dough was a little sweeter than I anticipated, but not off-putting. Overall, 5 stars for that delicate and layered croissant. The creme puff was also phenomenal. The cream is thick, whipped right to the point of almost turning, and it's obviously very high quality vanilla. The sugar crystals on the outside had caramelized around the bottom of the bun on the baking sheet. The choux was very light and the amount of cream to choux was very generous. Can't wait to come back here. I will say, if you're flexible in when you come here, check out their busy times on Google to avoid longer lines I imagine happen. I came here around 4 p.m. and the only thing I think they were out of...
Read moreA very cozy bakery with a corner counter displaying a variety of products, ranging from bread to pastries.
On a Saturday afternoon, the line was long but moved swiftly thanks to the efficient staff. So, no need to worry if you find a queue.
Unfortunately, the products didn't match the aesthetic appeal – a bit rustic yet inviting – and the vibe of the place itself, which was very welcoming, almost homely.
The disappointment is mainly for the taste and texture of the cinnamon knot, which I had read great things about. It was dry and lacked the vibrant cinnamon notes I expected. Even the Nutella-filled donut was truly underwhelming.
The chocolate brownie was good, but it seemed to me more a nougat than a brownie.
It's a shame because before tasting the stuff, I had a really good impression. However, I want to specify three things: a) the staff was genuinely courteous, so it was a great experience despite everything said so far; b) the items I tried might not reflect the quality of all their offerings; c) this bakery doesn't make bad products; they just seemed to me of a lower level compared to what I've experienced in other spots in the city.
I hope to have a different experience next time I visit because, overall, I do like the vibe...
Read moreI had already declared my favorite bakery in Paris and then went to Mamiche. Can you have two favorites? WOW Mamiche is as good as it gets.
Let’s start with the food. The babka was recommended by the customer in front of me - wow I don’t know if I’ve ever had anything like it. Sweet, but not too sweet. I expected it to be heavier but it was super light. The pop of chocolate was absolutely perfect. On both occasions I got a profiterole (cream puff) with vanilla cream that was “take a deep breath and exhale good”. It was chock full of crème which wasn’t too heavy or too sweet….ooh la la was it delicious.
The bakery is small and doesn’t have seating. You’ll need to go enjoy your tasty treats somewhere else. The staff were all super friendly. They were more than willing to help me with my horrible French and even speak English to make it easier for me.
I visited two of the three locations at different times of the day and each time there was a line - you will need to be a little patient and wait to enjoy the deliciousness of this awesome bakery.
Ill be thinking about that Babka for awhile. Yummy! I’ll definitely return on my next trip to Paris and will save up my calories for my...
