Honestly I the worst evening I ever had at a restaurant. Extremely rude waitress, horrible service, okay food.

My friend organized a birthday dinner for me and called & wrote emails to the restaurant to make sure that there was a vegan option for me. It started off by the waitress telling me extremely rude that there was not a single vegan option (light blond hair with a ponytail and red lipstick, small, black dress). I then asked her if the truffle pasta could be made vegan. As she said yes and did not help me with looking for another option, I ordered it - what came was a truffle pasta with cheese sauce. As she was so insanely rude from the start, I didn’t wanna make a scene and didn’t wanna wait for new food on my own birthday as the only person so I didn’t say anything, but with my friend calling and texting several times this was already a no-go. It continued with her being the rudest person I have ever met in my entirely life. I ordered a bottle of champagne and told her to bring it at 12 AM for my birthday. As always when we ordered something, she went away with a pissed face and without a reply. We sat there looking for her anxiously for 10 minutes (but unable to go after her, because there was a show going on) because we already thought that she didn’t listen and were afraid that she will bring the bottle right away - which is exactly what happened in the middle of us eating our food - with a sparkling candle so it made us extremely uncomfortable. I then told her that I explicitly told her to bring the bottle at 12 (which was so awkward, because the whole restaurant was watching us), but she blamed it on me. My friend also requested a happy birthday song at 12 which we didn’t get. The whole evening we got a pissed and rude waitress from the second we walked in. When I wanted to pay the remaining bill, she of course all of the sudden acted extremely nice. The evening was really horrible, but as I wanted to be nice person, I still felt obliged to tip her a very generous amount. My friend told me in german to not give a tip as everyone who already paid has given her a tip already, eventhough she was so insanely rude. I would have listened to my friend, but she then told my friend that she can speak german and insisted on the tip - another no-go. Honestly for every restaurant this person would have been a reason to immediately leave, but for a restaurant in this price range, it is just outrageous. I will never ever come back and will definitely tell everyone I know not to go there (which none of the people celebrating my birthday with me will do anyways). I can definitely not...

I had an absolutely delightful dining experience at this restaurant that left me with a lasting impression. The food was nothing short of exceptional, and among the various dishes I tried, the truffle pasta and the salmon and black rice were the true highlights. Furthermore, the ambiance of the restaurant is simply gorgeous. The attention to decor and lighting creates a charming and inviting setting, perfect for a special night out. To top it off, the live entertainment was a delightful surprise, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to the evening.

In summary, I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a remarkable dining experience. While the presentation of the dishes could use a little more finesse, the incredible food, friendly staff, and beautiful ambiance more than make up for it. Don’t get me wrong: the surroundings are great and the food was incredible, if not a little pricey. I don’t mind paying a premium for amazing food, but I feel like the premium here was for “the show” which left a lot to be desired. The evening’s ‘entertainment’ was GCSE level at best. Just so lacklustre and mediocre. This place could be incredible. There’s a live band, the place oozes cool and the food is cooked with love, but if you’re expecting to be blown away by charismatic performers then you’re more likely to find it somewhere else. You could tell that the performers thought they were at the top of their entertainment game and that this was a top-tier game for them, which is almost comical, but I feel this is a rut that Mondaine is stuck in: people still flock here and because of that, the place doesn’t need to make much of an effort with the lazy staging and performances. The place was super busy, but I wonder if this was a first-time for people and whether most customers were first-timers, newcomers to the world of decent entertainment who are happy to watch some below-par performers with the unspoken promise of something more theatrical and...
