We found Restaurant Florina by mistake. And what a mistake it was! We walked into the small restaurant, where the kitchen is the prime focal point. We were greeted by Silvian. Silvian is the owner, chef, server, bartender, and possibly whatever else you need him to be. Silvian, speaks fluent French and Spanish, and a fair amount of English. Making communication a breeze. Upon entering the restaurant we decided to stop and look at the menu to see if we would like what he had to offer. Upon doing so, we were told by two Canadian tourists how amazing the food was. The menu was short but appealing so we put a table together and sat down. We shared a few bottles of wine while Silvain explained to us the menu, as well as, what he recommended for us. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. He explained how he visits the local markets every morning to get his ingredients as fresh as possible, will change the menu day to day based on what he can get from the markets. I enjoyed the Confit de Canard. This pan seared duck was cooked to perfection and laid on a bed of mashed carrots, asparagus and onion shallots that were perfectly sweet. Part of the charm of the restaurant is being able to watch Chef Silvian, prepare the meal right in front of your eyes. I thought that would be a little nerve racking for the chef, but when I learned he was 1st runner-up on Top Chef Romaina, It's not hard to see that he is more than capable in the kitchen. Silvian took the time to speak with us after our meal and invited us back a few days later to cook us a lunch, in which he prepared a new menu ahead of time. It was the lamb and it was fantastic. He not only gave us a great dining experience but as well helped us around Paris, for many of us it was our first time in the city. I highly recommend this small restaurant for some amazing food and a great experience! Whether a local or just visiting you will not regret stopping...
Read moreWe came unplanned as we live in the neighborhood. This is the most outstanding French family-like cuisine we had in Paris. The menu is small but you can get the “star” feeling right away. The chef welcomes you, serves you, cooks and talks to you. This is THE French experience we were looking for. The dish was prepared with skill and soul. That’s the way we felt. It looks and tastes amazing. We were actually quite full when arriving, but end up finishing every bit of the food as it tastes excellent. The atmosphere is very laid back, French, not touristy at all. The chef was a diligent yet friendly down-to-earth gentleman. He clearly cared about the food and customer experience very much. Another gentleman worked with him in the kitchen and that’s it. It really reminds you of how you imagine a fantastic small French restaurant would operate. We highly recommend making a stop, as this becomes our memory of how excellent French food is made and served. We just finished a 2-star Michelin restaurant the day before. In comparison, this restaurant is more memorable as the French food...
Read moreLa Florina is a delightful restaurant in Paris. We found it by chance, and this is one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. To be honest, it’s better than some restaurants with a Michelin star I’ve been to. The menu is quite short, but everything on this menu is perfect and very tasty. You can feel that people put their soul and energy into cooking. It’s not a posh restaurant, but you will find a pure pleasure here. Every dish on the menu is very well thought out and balanced. The atmosphere in general is very cozy. The chef himself works in the restaurant, he is a very talented, friendly and pleasant person! As all other stuff, they all are very friendly and kindly do their jobs. We really enjoyed it, every visit to this restaurant makes the evening better! I will definitely come again if I have chance. Thank you very much for the wonderful experience and delicious food. I highly...
