Me and my boyfriend went for a drink after a friend recommended the place. As soon as we arrived the bartender, who was himself busy with other customers, told us that the bar was still open. As soon as we walk inside I notice that the bartender waves in hands in the hair as he walks inside behind us and his friends/customers burst in laughter. I don't know and don't care if that was as a joke to me and my boyfriend or because he didn't feel like working or else. Regardless of the reason it's a deeply unwelcoming reception. We didn't understand what was really going on and decided instead to leave. The bar next door had a much friendlier vibe and customer service.
My boyfriend also gave 1 star and the owner in his response called it unfair and called me a paranoid person and felt under attack in his response to my review. As I said earlier, we didn't feel welcome and any other person would have thought it strange this welcoming behavior, that's the reason for the 1 star. Simple as that. If you can't accept a negative feedback it's up to you, just don't respond insulting the person who wrote it. That is simply disgusting and makes me feel that there was no misunderstanding there. Read moreThis is the type of bar you'll brag to your children about having had gone to back in its heyday. A sort of Fear and Loathing in Pigalle perfect storm of leopard print, drag queens, and Campari. While tourists fantasize about dressing up and drinking $30 mimosas in the same Ritz Carlton that Hemmingway and Fitzgerald patronized 90 years ago, this exists outside that overcrowded museum universe of Paris. Something new, but something that harkens back to a golden age of grit and fun. Like if Henry Miller and Lou Reed shared a common history with this bar as the watering hole. Pigalle at its core is a dangerous and gritty place. God forbid you find yourself at the McDonalds at Place Pigalle at 2am on a Saturday night. Regarless of that, Sister Midnight shows what is so appealing about an area like this, it's unpretentious, it's fun, the people are interesting, the bartenders aren't jaded Parisians and the drinks are incredible. One of the best bars...
Read moreCool cocktail bar and friendly staff. I noticed how the bartender Joseph made every guest feel special and welcome. A few of the guests were clearly new to craft cocktail bars -- based on their orders, they seemed to be used to American shot bars. Some bartenders might look down on that type of customer, but not here. I was really impressed how hard Joseph worked to find a cocktail that delighted them, but also opened doors into the world of fine spirits. It was like watching a masterclass in customer service.
I hear they do drag and burlesque shows in this tiny venue, and that one performer maneuvers giant feather fans in between patrons. I would love to see that... sounds like a unique...
