Went here for dinner on a Tuesday evening with my girlfriend for our anniversary. We were immediately welcomed by a massive, genuine smile and a friendly waitress who forgave us for (accidentally) being 30 minutes late. The ambience is wonderful here. It's a small space, but they've made the most of it and the decor feels homely, warm, and inviting. Both of us being massive foodies, but not having a massive budget, the €60 tasting menu was exactly what we were looking for. Each dish was clearly made with care, both taste-wise and presentation-wise.
From the first bite, we were intrigued. Classic flavor combinations with a surprising twist. Fresh, seasonal, and (largely) local produce just creates such wonderful flavors. The chef clearly has experience with this style of cooking and his personality and style came through in every dish. Truly a dining experience to remember, and come back for!
But, what really made our night was the service. Our waitress was friendly, helpful, and funny, all without it feeling forced or fake. She knew the answers to all our questions, paired our food with excellent wines that really lifted the dinner to another level, and made us feel so welcome and warm. She was happy to engage in conversation with me, even on a busier night, and we never felt we were forgotten. Without the service, it's a great restaurant. With the level of service we experienced, it almost instantly becomes a 10/10.
Thank you for an unforgettable anniversary dinner, we will surely be...
Read moreWe went for a family Dinner on vacation to Le Banquet des Sophistes. The staff was very cordial and attentive and the service was perfect. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very modern and laid back with a focus and quality and service rather than pomp and stiffness. We chose the degustation menu which offered a lot of variety and many interesting dishes. The food was prepared to perfection for each of the six courses. Each dish offered a new, fresh glipse on a traditional dish. The cuisine is creative without going overboard just for the sake of offering something new - a very nice balance. Overall we enjoyed our dinner very much and would come back any time we are in...
Read moreThe food was wonderful but our table location was tucked away in a small, low ceiling room with a strange view of the staff’s ordering iPad and cleaning supplies. The ambiance took away from the dining experience. More so, the timing between our 6 course meal left us waiting a considerable amount between dishes and affected the flow of dining. Thankfully we had delicious biodynamic and natural wines to pass the time. We ordered an additional starter because the plates were small and proportions were delicate. TIP: Request to sit in the large room upstairs or downstairs by the front windows because the restaurant is small in general. The downstairs back room was also...
