Not the best experience. Went here after finding a blog that recommended this place as the "best" tart restaurant in Strasbourg. That blog I will no longer be reading. The tart I ordered was OK but what really ruined the evening was the server who dropped another tables order in front of me. A salad bowl landed between my back and my jacket. The server didn't apologize until my wife called her to the table. She responded with "What can I do?". What she should have done was apologize sincerely when it happened and asked the manager to come by to offer his apology. Shows a lack of training. For this I asked for the manager. She said he doesn't speak english well. Someone did come by. Honestly he looked too young and inexperienced to be the manager. He seemed to speak english just fine. When I expressed that the service was lacking, he seemed bothered that he had to come by and basically said what do you want, we comped you a beer. Incredible.
Update: Its clear your staff isn't just not trained sufficiently but has no problem hiding what actually took place to the owner. I guess you've decided to listen to your staff and not the customer who is telling you what happened. Sad. I guess this is also an important thing for future patrons to consider.
An ENTIRE SALAD BOWL landed on my back and lodged itself between my back and my chair in contradiction to what your staff is telling you. At no time was the jacket checked "together" for stains. Your manager showed a lack of concern. Good luck with...
Read moreOn Mother’s Day, my mom and I came across Mama Bubbele, a charming tarte flambée restaurant that left us absolutely captivated. From the moment we stepped inside, we were enchanted by the restaurant's lovely and inviting interior, setting the stage for an exceptional culinary experience.
The attention to detail in the interior design showcases a true understanding of French aesthetics.
Now, let's talk about the star of the show: the tarte flambée. At Mama Bubbele, every bite is a revelation. The traditional thin and crispy Alsatian crust, topped with an array of delectable ingredients, leaves a lasting impression. From the classic variations to innovative creations, the menu offers a delightful range of options to suit every palate. Only thing I’ve missed: a vegan option. Maybe next time there will be one? :)
The quality of the ingredients is evident in each bite. The perfectly balanced flavors and harmonious combinations make for an unforgettable gastronomic experience.
The attentive and knowledgeable staff are more than happy to guide you through the menu, ensuring you discover your own personal favorites.
The service at Mama Bubbele is amazing. The staff members are not only friendly and attentive, but also speak very good English.
Whether you are seeking a romantic dinner for two, a gathering with friends, or a memorable dining experience with loved ones, Mama Bubbele is the perfect destination. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough....
Read moreYou can get Flammkuchen almost everywhere in Strasbourg but I chose Mama Bubbele for their organic (Bio) ingredients from animal friendly local farms (a map on the menu shows the farms).
Mama Bubbele – an old name for grandmother in Alsace, serves Flammkuchen with many toppings. Traditional Flammkuchen is a very thin dough spread with crème-fraiche, sliced onions and lardons (bits of bacon) which is baked in the oven for a few minutes and served on a large wooden spatula. I chose the traditional with Munster cheese and it was excellent. Munster is a local semi hard cheese that is extremely strong. To drink was a wonderful local organic summer pilsner beer.
I sat in the large guest garden on the square in front of the restaurant. Immediately I noticed several groups who ordered and ate one Flammkuchen at a time until everyone was happy. What a great idea! You’re always eating warm Flammkuchen, you can try several sorts, and everyone was having a great time. Mama Bubbele seemed especially good for this sort of spontaneous party. Service was friendly, efficient and English speaking. My Flammkuchen, beer and coffee cost 20 euros. I highly recommend...
