My friend and I were looking forward to have a dinner together, but our anticipation quickly turned into disappointment due to the service and food quality. The most striking issue was with our server, who appeared to be drunk. This was not only unprofessional but also greatly affected his ability to serve us properly. He had difficulty remembering our orders, necessitating three times back to our table to verify what we had said, which significantly disrupted our dining experience. To add to the frustration, after our food was eventually served, we were left without forks, an essential oversight that was hard to overlook. The food itself also left much to be desired. My medium-rare beef steak was overcooked to medium-well and excessively salty, compounding the already disappointing service. Understandably, restaurants can have off nights, but the combination of poor service from an apparently intoxicated server and the lackluster food quality was far below what we expected.

Le Verdict is incredibly good and features traditional French fare. I would call in to make a reservation as is typical for most restaurants in the area. We called on a Sunday night and were able to get in a little later that same day so if you call ahead it shouldn’t be a problem. The food is very good and all at an extremely reasonable cost. You also get to break away a bit from the tourist hustle and bustle which is very nice. If you’re in Strasbourg, coming here is a must. We ordered the escargots, sautéed chanterelles and hangar steak and all of them were amazingly good. We capped off the night with crème brûlée and a cappuccino - both, again, we’re so good. Do not miss the hangar steak with shallot sauce - it’s very tender and the sauce is to die for. Don’t miss out on this place!!!

Four of us ate here a couple of weeks ago and I do have to say that the food was excellent. However, the experience was completely ruined by the waiter and turned what should have been a wonderful night into an awkward night, one in which we wanted to quickly leave the restaurant. The waiter couldn't seem to remember that we hadn't ordered anything yet and apologized for not bringing the drinks (that we hadn't actually ordered), then finally gave us drink menus. When we ordered, he tried to remember everything but failed to do so. He went over it a couple of times with us and we had to correct him repeatedly about what we actually ordered. We arrived and ordered before several tables, one of them with a larger party, but received our food after all of them. One member of our group ordered Veal Cordon Bleu and another ordered Chicken Cordon Bleu. When our food finally arrived he gave one of them to the person that ordered veal. They asked if it was veal, he made a face, and quickly said, "yeah." It looked like chicken, tasted like chicken, and also looked identical to the chicken dish that the other member of the group ordered. We asked again if it was veal and he just nodded. He did, mysteriously, start giving us free salad and other food but never would admit that he forgot the order and delivered the wrong food. A good restaurant and waiter should admit this mistake and work to fix it, rather than assume that we can't determine the difference. It was unprofessional and offensive. Again, the food was great and the atmosphere was great, but the one person that was supposed to enhance the experience made it an unpleasant...

Bonne continuation ...
