I took my parents to this restaurant to celebrate my birthday. We were happy with the food but very displeased with the service, which spoiled a bit our evening.
We asked if it would be possible to order a starter of foie gras and two main dishes, since my parents are used to eat small portions. The waiter said this was not possible and that each person would have to order one main. So we ordered instead three main dishes but no foie gras, as this would be too much food. Immediately after we placed our order, the waiter came with the foie gras and we explained again that we did not want it anymore. The foie gras was returned to the kitchen. Just after this, a more senior member of the staff came again to our table with the foie gras. She was quite impolite to us, and claimed that the foie gras had been ordered and prepared (mind you, it took them seconds to bring this after we placed the order, and it consisted of two slices of something clearly pre-made). She basically said, in a rude and condescending way, that we were going to be charged for it whether we wanted it or not. In a polite manner, we tried to explain our order once more. She returned with the foie gras to the kitchen, only to bring it back and place it on our table some minutes afterwards. She avoided eye-contact and ignored us for the rest of the evening when we wanted to order more drinks. We also had the impression that we were being "punished" and had to wait longer for the main dishes than the remaining costumers.
I understand that there may be misunderstandings, but there is no need to be rude or borderline xenophobic when...
Read moreAbsolutely not recommended! It was impossible to order just one main course for one guest and only an appetizer for another. I came with a friend who wasn’t hungry enough for a main dish — we simply wanted to order wine and an appetizer for him, and wine plus a main course for me. The waiter, in an unfriendly tone, explained that my friend must also order a main dish whether he wants to or not. Otherwise, they simply wouldn’t serve us.
Not wanting to ruin the festive mood, we gave in and ordered what the waiter insisted on. They brought the foie gras appetizer (two small slices — one of which had a fingerprint, most likely from that very same grumpy waiter). Naturally, that piece was left uneaten.
The rest of the order never arrived. When we asked where it was, the waiter loudly replied that we had to finish the foie gras with his fingerprint on it first. Absolutely shocking.
It took a lot of effort to convince the staff to take the plate away, and even after nearly 30 minutes, our main courses still hadn’t been served.
In the end, we went to a lovely nearby restaurant, paid half the price, and were treated with respect — and no fingerprints on the food.
Prices here are clearly inflated. This...
