Le Coup de Coeur — Restaurant in Thonon-les-Bains

Honestly the worst pizza I’ve ever eaten. Astonishingly bad. Pizza is impossible to get wrong but these guys managed it. The crust - difficult to articulate why it’s wrong, but believe me it is. The sauce, sweet Christ this was awful, basically Heinz tomato soup + sugar. The cheese, not mozzarella, it was weird but ok. The “spicy sausage” was neither spicy nor a sausage, more of a dry, tasteless hate crime of a calorie. To recap, disgusting. Other food was good but we had 8 pizzas and all were terrible. Not sure the chef has ever eaten one before? Otherwise, nice bar, good service. Go for drinks but...

When looking for a restaurant the day before they told us they had 3 vegan options. The night we got there they only offered pizza with no cheese. I'm not really complaining about that, because I am used to that. However, the pizza was aweful. Not because it had no cheese on it, but the dough was still raw. I told the waiter and they put it back in the oven. After that it still tasted horrible. The waiter told me it was because of the wooden oven, but to me it was because of the poor dough. This a great wine bar on the main strip which serves really good food. The oysters from the Bay of Biscay were fresh and wine pairing made both exceptional. The tempura prawns were delicious and after we shared the plate of the day, pan cooked chicken and mushrooms enjoyed with a subtle Grain de Grace Rose. We finished with a desert and desert wine. Delicious all. The staff and especially Jordan our waiter was very friendly.
