Having read great things about this roof top bar and the decent views over the city I had to pay a visit early on a Friday evening when in the city, although I’m not sure I’d be rushing back in the future. Signage wasn’t the clearest to find at first, but simply head to the top floor of the department store and then it’s obvious. It didn’t look very busy at all when I arrived, so when I said to the member of staff on the reception desk I only wanted one drink outside I was surprised to be told they were fully booked and I’d have to stay inside.
The circular bar in the centre of the indoor area is impressive so I sat at a stool there, only to quickly realise there wasn’t any service taking place there, so instead it was a case of flagging down the roaming waiting staff. They were all friendly enough and service of drinks from the bar outside was quick. The prices felt very steep though and 12 Euros for a beer was by far the most I paid anywhere during my stay in the city.
I did venture outside to take a look at the roof top views from the bar seating along the edge (which indeed mostly remained unoccupied during my stay) and, while it offered a good perspective of the city, it wasn’t high enough to be anything really impressive.
I’m sure late in an evening when it’s busier and with the live DJ there’s a much more exciting atmosphere, or if you remember to get a reservation in for a table outside, it’s a bit more special, but for just a drink you might be...
Read moreI went there after lunch for a coffee and it was pretty good, nice location, but the staff wasn't prepared but it was the first day so it's okay,... then I asked if for the night they wanted e reservation for a glass of wine and they told me not, "just for drink something we don't ask for reservation"... when I get there in the evening with a friend like 10pm at the entry there were a bodyguard and he didn't get me in, first 'cause I didn't had a reservation but they told me that for a drink there's no need to reserve and at that point they said that a friend of mine wasn't well dressed, just 'cause he was wearing sneakers... it's okay if you are dressed like just out of the gym I can also understand, but with a coat and really well dressed up and the only problem were the sneakers... that is not normal!(btw now classy clothes and sneakers are fashion and Lafayette's staff should know this and also you can be classy also with sneakers) so I suggest to change the stuff to the entry, and put more qualified people and also, you may say also that for a glass of wine you need reservation, and also the staff in the entry has to be kind with French and tourist. And I've been there in Paris and it was 3/4 time better, and also they don't made all this problem for a...
Read moreI always go there most of the weekends with friends to have a drink and enjoy the landscape, the staff have been always super respectful and professional till I tried it this Monday and saw that the servants were totally different from the weekends and there was one extremely impolite servant who instead of coming to us and asking a simple question why we were sitting in a place which we were not aware it was reserved! He rather pulled away a customer who apparently reserved portion of the terrace pointing at us staring into our eyes and then approaching us rudely asking us why were sitting there whereas we had already confirmed with the reception that we could sit there during our drink time to enjoy the view and change for the dinner time! That servant who believed he had acted smart should definitely take some etiquette and customer service courses! On the contrary the receptionist was so polite, she kindly explained us without arguing and ruining our evening and genuinely apologized for the behavior of her colleague but retrained from giving his name to us to fill out a formal complaint on the website! Anyhow it's a pity that people with no manners can easily change your experience of a place and affect the image...
