It has a huge menu but we went there for their khachapuri which was told to be the best. The one we got was quite good, though despite being the cheapest and so presumably the lightest version, it was difficult to eat it in a hot summer day. Georgian cuisine is more winter-oriented, that is for sure. Me and my mother still seemed to have gotten some weird looks since we “only” ordered one dish but I wish more Georgians understood that for us foreigners who do not eat heavily everyday, especially on summer, it is very difficult to eat more than this. My mother already stressed about leaving food the moment she saw the khachapuri, so anything more is just impossible. Besides as one of the only two tables when we first went in, at least we ordered something other than just drinks. Drinks were a bit on the expensive side in a city with plenty of 2, 2.5, 3 GEL “Georgian lemonade” on its menus but then again this is a more famous establishment. Last but not least, I wish they cranked up the AC a bit more, it was very hot inside, which is why the atmosphere could...

I went to Café Tiflisi hoping for an authentic taste of Georgian hospitality, but left feeling quietly dismayed. I read the menu carefully and only after checking the bill noticed a mysterious surcharge—claimed to be a “tax” by the servers—a practice that is not only uncommon but apparently illegal.

When I asked about gluten, the servers didn’t even know what it was, nor could they name the ingredients in their own dishes. Their thinly veiled annoyance only deepened my disappointment. The food itself was merely adequate, scarcely worth the premium charged, and far less satisfying than more transparent, reasonably priced restaurants just around the corner.

I had hoped for warmth and honesty and instead found a place that preys on outsiders. I cannot recommend Café Tiflisi to anyone seeking genuine service or...

This review is in English, Russian and Georgian My husband and I came to eat Kalakuri khinkali. He sat down at a table outside. We started looking at the menu. The husband went to the bathroom. The waiter came. I started reading the menu. It turned out that there is no khinkali kalakuri in the cafe. Other types of khinkali can be ordered only from 10 pieces. The husband returned, we consulted and decided to go somewhere else. When we got up, the owner came up and started yelling at my husband because they didn't order anything and he went to the bathroom. He also started yelling at me. Then he took my hands. We entered the cafe to pay for the toilet. The owner started yelling at us. My husband paid 10 lari for a toilet. We went out. The owner started cursing and yelling at us in the street. I would never have thought that this is possible in this hospitable country.

Their beef khinkali is amazing. It’s possible to pay with a card. There was a very young 16 year old kid serving me and his English was pretty good and he was super lovely and helpful too! Prices are great but their menu is better for bigger groups or people with massive appetite. There is a minimal order on certain things and they don’t allow ‘mix and match’ which is not practical if you eat alone and want to taste various things (each khali is 6 pieces, for example, and no mixed options - they say no, if you want 3 of this or 3 of that taste). Based on some comments, the owner’s attitude towards hospitality is a bit off.
