Visiting Debi Kutaisi was one of the absolute highlights of my stay in the city. This charming restaurant manages to capture the very essence of Kutaisi – warm hospitality, delicious Imeretian cuisine, and an atmosphere that feels both authentic and memorable.
The food was outstanding from start to finish. For a group of four, we ordered the famous “Imeruli Gobi”, which turned out to be a real feast. The presentation was generous, the flavors were perfectly balanced, and every single dish on the platter tasted homemade and full of character. It was not only enough for all of us, but also one of the most enjoyable meals we’ve had in Georgia. Each bite reminded us of the rich culinary traditions of the Imereti region.
To complement the food, we tried Oti’s APA beer, which was surprisingly unique. It had a refreshing taste, slightly hoppy yet smooth, and paired perfectly with the traditional dishes. It’s always exciting to discover a local craft beer that adds to the overall experience.
What makes Debi Kutaisi even more special is its atmosphere. The interior is filled with little historical details, cozy corners, and authentic touches that reflect the true spirit of Kutaisi. It feels less like a restaurant and more like stepping into a piece of the city’s cultural heritage.
Overall, Debi Kutaisi is not just a place to eat, but a place to truly experience Kutaisi. I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy genuine Imeretian food, a unique local beer, and an...
Read morePlease stop scrolling here and read this review! This is one of the worst restaurants I have ever been to in all my travels around the world.
Firstly, and most importantly the food - it is truly awful. The local cheese-so-salty-it-tastes-like-the-sea, the pork (charred) and potato (uncooked) dish, the chicken in walnuts that had less flavour than a microwave meal, cornbread which I could have used to build a house and rice with veg looked like something out of a frozen packet (i will spare you the rest which were just too dull to even mention).
Secondly, the SERVICE…. Seriously I felt like I was in a reality TV show where someone was pretending to be the worst waitress ever. Perhaps it’s worth coming just to experience this. The food took over an hour to arrive and the only ones who were fed before were tour groups who arrived 45 mins after us and of course after they had finished taking photos of every angle of the restaurant.
Thirdly, the atmosphere was flat. The other diners looked sad and hungry. The only saving grace were the musicians who were both excellent. Please please don’t waste your time or money in...

We visited Restaurant Sisters on a weekday for lunch, arriving right when the doors opened. At first it was quiet, but by the afternoon the restaurant had filled up, showing just how popular it is with both locals and visitors. We ordered a range of local dishes along with a local beer, and everything was fresh, tasty, and well-prepared.
The staff also made the visit extra special. We were helped by an elegant young gentleman who clearly had a lot of passion for his craft, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. The atmosphere is relaxed, the service welcoming, and the food makes it a place you can easily enjoy for either lunch or dinner. For two people we spent about 100 GEL, which felt very reasonable for the quality and amount of food we received. Definitely worth a visit when you are in Kutaisi.
