The host at my hotel recommended this place for breakfast as it opens earlier than most other places. Location is fantastic, overlooking Leopoldsplatz, and there is a spacious indoor/outdoor dining area. If you order hot food, they give you a number for your table and bring the dish to you.
There is a large bakery section and everything looked really good (different kinds of bread, pretzels, buns as well as cakes). I was craving a big breakfast and got the Mediterranean breakfast which is a tomato and cheese omelette served with 2 rolls (I don't know why they give you 2 - I couldn't even finish one as they are quite big). That was around 9 euros and the omelette was huge, 3+ eggs I would estimate. My cappuccino was pretty good too.
The cashier did not speak much English. I asked if they have an English menu and she said no. She told me to get out of the line, use google translate, and then come back when I'm ready to order. Fair enough lol...
They have a good selection of prepared sandwiches and I saw a big pasta bowl for takeout, only 4 euros! If you are catching a train from Baden Baden, I suggest picking up food in town because the train station doesn't have great food options.
I also saw 2 women sharing their breakfast set for 2 which comes with coffee, mimosas, yogurt/granola, fresh fruit, baked goods and I think even eggs/bacon for 33 euros! If you want a big leisurely breakfast, it...
Read moreI came to lovely Baden-Baden with my family - 4 adults and 3 kids - and we went to Peters am Leo for a break from all the walking. The waitresses were not very nice but all was OK... Until we left. Most of my family left first, my younger brother and I left right afterwards and we heard one of the waitresses screaming "ENTSCHULDIGUNG!!". We turned back surprised, everyone in the cafe was looking at us and her without knowing what was going on, and she said in German that we had to clean our table before we could leave. We didn't know that - maybe it was written somewhere but we can't read German - and she could've informed us about it in a nice way. Instead she screamed at us in front of everyone, and we were so shocked we just did it and didn't even complain about how rude and obnoxious she had been. We come from Portugal, where usually the waitresses clean the tables, but even if they don't the costumers are certainly not screamed at if they don't clean up what they're supposed to. In 25 years of travelling in Portugal and abroad this never happened to me. We didn't clean the table because we didn't know we were supposed to - not because we didn't want to. We are civilized - they were not. We didn't feel welcome...
Read moreFirst breakfast in Baden Baden. Central location, friendly staff and excellent prices.
We really wanted to get the breakfast for 2 (€33) but as we were heading to the spa, we didn’t want to have a heavy breakfast.
We used Google image to translate the menu (see photos) and opted for the €7.65 breakfast - with salad, cheese, ham and two fresh bread rolls. We also ordered a cake and two medium coffee (€3.30 each) which comes to a total of around 18€ for two people (see image). We were very satisfied and would not have been able to eat more food.
If you were to grab something quick before travelling, they have a variety of donuts and sandwiches at reasonable rate.
Our trip was quite short so didn’t manage to come here again, however, we would love to try the €11.50 option as it has a warm potato item within, which was...
