Ooooh girl that Kaiserschmarrn, though! This old-school German restaurant is situated right off the Spree, next to a large park with a great view of the Fernsehturm. Although it's in a bit of a touristy area only a few minutes from Alexanderplatz, we were greeted warmly and the service was very friendly throughout. Also, we heard of lot of German being spoken around us, which with the decor and general vibe, made us feel like we were transported to a small German mountain town. Great atmosphere! To eat, I, of course, got the standard (Hamburger-style) schnitzel and my date got the grilled chicken strips in mushroom sauce. Both were fantastic! The schnitzel was crisp and juicy and the mushroom sauce was 👌. But the star of the show was the Kaiserschmarrn. Honestly one of the best renditions I've ever had, and maybe it's the simplicity that struck a chord. Essentially French toast and vanilla ice cream -- no frills, but each component was perfection. Also I got a homemade iced tea which I highly recommend. We left very satisfied and enjoyed the rest of our walk around Mitte with full bellies.

Traditional German fare. You must make a reservation if you want to visit in the evening since the place gets quite busy. The location is perfect - close to Nikolaiviertel. We had the Pork Knuckle, meatballs, Kartoffelsuppe, Hühnerfrikassee and apfelstrudel. And of course, quite a few pints of beer. Everything was reasonably priced. Everything was delicious and the service was quick and efficient. However, there was some issue with our reservation. We had reserved online. But, it seemed they prefer a local register where they note down reservations and hence did not know that we had already reserved. They did honour our reservation though and laid out a table. Overall, I would totally recommend the place if you want to try some German food.

They offer a wide variety of classical German style dishes. We were so pleased with what we ate on our first visit that we went there a second time. If we could stay longer, we would've gone again and again. The food was so delicious that we couldn't just order a single dish for each of us and leave; we were driven to have full-course meals. The portions are big, and the presentation is quite artistic. The desserts are tempting. The place is modest, cozy, well-decorated, and clean. The customer profile is high. Prices are very reasonable. The service personnel and the restaurant owner are all very nice and friendly. We had quality food and spent quality time there.

We ordered pork knuckle as the menu said but we got given something with gelatine that was really cold and bland. The first waitress told us that the dish was not pork knuckle, the second waiter said that the wrong dish was given to us and then a third waiter came up to tell us that the dish was correct and that they were not willing to change it free of charge it, even though the menu did not even specify that the dish contained gelatine and that it was served cold. The sausages were good so this is what the 1 star is for. Overpriced and truly overrated for what it is, would not recommend for any occasion!! Stay away if you want quality food :)

Ooh I loved this place! All the food fantastic! Friendly service and comfortable seating. And check out the jiggle for my picked pork knuckle! It was so soft and juicy, and it cut like butter! Loved it!
