Dr Maury Wine Bar — Restaurant in Berlin

TL;DR: food is good, service is appalling. One of the waiters is extremely rude and has no clue about wine.

——- If you book a table here, you only get 1:45 min. The seating is very tight, for the three people we got a tiny table for two with a third chair in the pathway. Through the dinner we were constantly rushed by the three waiters who either tried to take away our not finished food or suggest more wine.

One of the waiters was especially rude and absolutely clueless about wine. When I asked for a recommendation, he didn’t try to understand my taste preferences, and directly suggested the most expensive item on the menu. Then it appeared they didn’t even have that wine. When my friend asked for dessert wine, he went on suggesting their red wines clearly not knowing what dessert wine stands for. For a wine bar an employee like this is just a no go.

The cherry on the top was when the waiter came to take a dessert order, poured wine and a minute later told us they cannot serve us dessert because we only have 3 minutes left of our table reservation and we need to pay now. When my friend said she cannot finish her wine in 3 min, he said “maybe you have 5 min”. This was just ridiculous.

While the food was good, the service through the evening was consistently awful - lots of interrupting, rushing and the lack of time management, that they tried to push on us. There is a ton of better places to have a glass of wine...

Horrible, extremely rude service from the owner of this bar which literally brought me to tears.

I wanted to order a red wine with owner’s recommendation. He asked “Light, acid, sweet, deep body?” but I tried to explain it with a different description “Mineral, with berry notes”. On that, he looked extremely annoyed at me, raised his voice and repeated „LIGHT, ACID, SWEET, FULL BODY??“

He brought completely different wine from what I asked; in the end blaming me that I could not describe properly what I want and saying that they don’t have wine I asked.

All that with heavy annoyance made me very upset and I told him that it’s not very nice of him, on what the answer was „I DONT CARE“. No apologies...

Unfortunately just very unfriendly to an older disabled guest I brought along, and clearly having a baby is not something the manager was ok with. We tried to be accommodating, move our pram anywhere they asked, hold the baby the whole time (who was fast asleep) and I had asked ahead for a low table for our disabled guest. They kept insisting we take a table with bar seats very high off the floor, which our older guest wouldn’t be able to climb onto. The manager was really rude from the start and it was just incredibly awkward. The waitress tried her best to be nice after but the damage was done. Don’t come with anyone vulnerable, older or a...
