Most of the things people praise here are more or less true except food was not very tasty and service was rather slow. Since it has such a high rating, I was all the more disappointed by the quality of food and service. Ordered lamb with other 3 people and the portion was just ok, not generous at all. It was ridiculously tasteless. It's true that it is very soft and easy to eat but even with the special sauce they provided, none of us really could appreciate the rich taste of lamb... The pork, which my colleague ordered, was much better than lamb. The last time I went, I ordered the salmon, and it was soso as well... Some of the starters are very good but it cannot cover up the disappointment over the main dishes. The service was very professional at the beginning but as the restaurant got busier, it got really slow. There was only one person takin orders from all the customers on 1st floor (80-90% occupancy). Our reservation was supposed to be for 2 hours but we didn't not have any food for the first 1 hour... Also there wasn't much of greetings or assistance with retrieving coats when leaving the place. I don't call it a good service in particular. Its OK standard service in Berlin and it could be better. Overall, if this place was rated more moderately around 4 star, it feels right. While it is still a nice nest restaurant with fairly reasonable price for its ambience/branding, I don't think this place lives up to 4.5 star reputation on Google maps to be honest. Hope they can improve and matches its quality to its reputation.

Note: I have updated this review with respect to how courteous of a reply they had to the original raw review. The feed back has been received, thus I'm writing a much lighter review. Arriving at the beautiful building was quite impressive, the staff were extremely welcoming and the resturant beautiful. We had the family style dinner, it was a bit hard to hear our server at times, but the starting cocktails were exceptional, unsure what they were, but they were great. The initial starters were great, well executed though hard to figure out what exactly the cuisine is. Odd mix of dishes. The pumpkin soup is amazing, but the mains for me were very disappointing. The signature, while can be broken down with two forks, it's more a crumble than a fall apart braise. Though this could be what's considered tender in Germany. The desert was also interesting, though odd still. A sort of shaved ice with toppings, similar to Kakigōri shaved ice in Japan. Cocktails again exceptional. The team care deeply about the resturant, I personally found the menu confusing and unbalanced. With certain items ruining my time. I will say I'm very critical of meat bring South African, so it's unlikely that others would have the same experience as me.

I would start saying one thing: Everything in this place is wonderful. Amazing location, the ambient, the deco, the hosting, the food, and all the rest ehat builds a top restaurant. We ordered and outstanding dumpling fish wich came fast with our two riesling glasses. Was so good we forgot the picture so i apologise for what you will see. Main dishes follows fast with outstanding veggie cauliflower with nuts and a mix of superb dips and my roasted pork and savoy cabbage was simply heavenly, everything crowned with a beautiful austrian wine. So, why not the five stars? 1) the runners need to know what are they serving, both of them were stressed in front of inquires about the plates. 2) wine by the glass came served, always better when you can see the bottle. 3) the most important: the heating...so high that we were literally kicked out by the over heat, we finally decided to ask for a cork in the bottle and finish it with a walk in the street. Over all, i will definitely come back, and i definitely recommend it. Bravo guys!

The resturant Katz Orange is based on seasonal food, wine, but also good cocktails. It is placed in a nice private area, in an old building. From the entrance, you step into the bar area, upstairs being the resturant, but one can eat and enjoy drinks in both levels. For starters, I have picked the Root Vegetables with Shiitake, Pak Choi and Yuzu. The taste of the broth was very intense and good, complementing the freshness of the vegetables. For the main course, I chose the Wheat Berries with artichokes, okra and pine nut. Unfortunately I thought it wasn't very special for a resturant dish, taste wise, as it wasn't much different from the food I cook at home. The dessert, on the other hand, saved the situation with the Buchteln sweet rolls with nougat and caramel. Altogether the experience was good, with a very good and fast service. The cocktails are the cherry on the pie, especially the ones for no alcohol drinkers as it was offered a wide variety of virgin cocktails to choose from.

It is one of our favourite modern restaurants in Mitte. Fantastic wine list and a great varied menu. They specialise in Orange wine on the list, as you would expect, and the food is varied and excellent quality throughout. Nice atmosphere, especially in the incredible courtyard for a lovely al fresco feel in the summer. We had 2 non alcoholic cocktails to start, and they were both fantastic. The new Octopus starter is fine to share if you are not too hungry and was quite simply a perfect dish to start with. Mains were Pork and the Roasted Cauliflower, which was also pretty much the perfect choice as well. Dessert was blueberry sorbet with Prosecco, and this was also as good as the rest of the meal. All very consistent and flavoursome ingredients beautifully cooked throughout the meal. We have been here a few times now, and it's always been this good. Highly recommended.
