If you want lackluster takes traditional flavors don't come here. If you simply seek a cold treat on a sunny day you are not prepared for the transcendental experience contained in this unassuming shrine. In my near daily pilgrimages to KiezEis, at a certain point i had to wonder when ice cream ceases being food and becomes art. Perhaps the only person who knows the answer is the owner, who is slowly guiding us all to enlightenment. There have been many days where neither vanilla or chocolate are served, but I never once questioned this. Norms do not apply to the masterpieces here. I have eaten some delicious asparagus ice cream, some succulent rhubarb ice cream, and have greatly enjoyed the gingerbread ice cream. The last one may stand out as no being quite so outlandish, but I have talked at length with the owner about the subtleties of his creations, and this one is stocked only the few weeks that the gingerbread makers have fresh materials. Undoubtedly people would eat it at other times of the year, but it wouldn't be as good. This is what is special about KeizEis, they are willing to make no compromises for greatness. Honestly, if you can make milk flavored ice cream this good, nobody should be doubting you anyway. Thanks...
Read moreThe best ice cream in the area (comparing to Jones and Vanille & Marille here). You know that you're eating good ice cream if it still tastes honest, delicious and not too sweet when melted â which is the case here. Real, high-quality ingredients and well balanced flavours. This ice cream could be served as a purist desert in a top notch restaurant. And a big shout out to the staff â what a refreshing change to get personal and friendly service. I hope this place is making ends meet because honestly, it took me years to step inside because it looks rather non-descript and not very exciting from the outside ... Please stick...
Read moreAmazing selection of interesting flavors just a few steps from Nollendorf Platz shopping and restaurants. My personal favorites include smooth Asparagus (yes, Asparagus) and excitingly dynamic Lime Basil. Estrogan has a lovely light licorice flavor that must be sampled. Also a scoop each of Lemon and Blood Orange make a refreshing pair. Ask for the dark chocolate if you are a choco-holic. Bilingual staff is happy to let you sample flavors and to answer your questions with a smile. They have take-out containers to go, and will whip up blended dessert beverages, too. I visit whenever I'm in the area....
