This place used to be one of the most beautiful and stylish cafes in this area. You had the opportunity to sit relaxed at the window and enjoy the view at a busy street. For many years it has been one of the favorite places in the morning for the whole neighborhood since the second hand store Humana left. Unfortunately that stylish place had to leave for good because of an excessive rent increase and Risa obviously could afford the new rent and opened up its fifth restaurant in Berlin end of last year. I tried some food and it was quite ok. The fried stuff is... fried chicken. The grilled chicken (on charcoal grill) and the roasted corn are ok too. The rest is just fried chicken, some pieces were good some were still raw. The staff tried to be friendly and the prices are very cheap. That cheap that I just don't want to know where they get the chickens from. Unfortunately there's no opportunity to relax at the windows like it used to be before, the beautiful interior design of the old place has gone. In comparison it's cold and too bright. The red and white neon signs on the outside destroy this historic corner so much. A Turkish KFC is there now, so what? As long as the non demanding tourists are fed up... Went there cause of reviews claiming this to be better than KFC. Long story short, doesn't even come close, and it's not rly cheaper either. So what happend here is, that people who don't know good food made this bold claim. I consider my self quite a capable cook, but I have weak spot for junk food now and then. If you actually cooked a KFC style chicken, you know how much work and preparation goes into their product. The meat here is mediocre (not as tender and soft + no richness), the panade is solid (still world's apart from KFC tastewise), and if it was actually there, the marinade was barely noticeable. The service seemed uninterested and bored. Radio was playing rly bad german hip-hop (jeez must be hard to be a talented rapper in Germany nowadays), so no plus points for a Atmosphere either.
