Sagrantino — Restaurant in Berlin

In one word - Terrible 😣 , rock solid bruschetta, extremely salty spaghetti that together cost €40.

It was girlfriends birthday so we wanted to go out for candle light dinner at Italian restaurant. This restaurant came up on Google so we thought let’s give it a try! I couldn’t finish my starter ( thank god I didn’t order mains). Bruschetta was rock solid, felt like chewing a solid object. She couldn’t finish her main course i.e. spaghetti with truffle sauce. It was salty to a level that you can’t dare having a second bite.

Since we were tourists and it was her birthday, we didn’t want come across as Karens and give them any trouble. However, it was shocking to see that we paid €107 in total for the food and experience which was terrible. What got me when I got the receipt was €7.40 for the bottle of water which they didn’t even inform before brining it to our table. Once I paid, I passed the feedback about salt level in food to which staff member sounded rude and argumentative. It felt better to just drop it and walk out.

Anyone reading, I can assure one million times that you can find hundreds of better, worth for your money restaurants in Berlin than this one. Absolutely terrible food for premium prices, just milking...

Decline in Hospitality and Service

As a long-standing patron of this establishment, I pen this review with profound disappointment. My loyalty to the restaurant was met with an astonishing lack of courtesy during my most recent visit, a stark departure from the warm hospitality I had associated with this place.

On an evening when the restaurant was scarcely populated, an older Italian gentleman, presumably a senior staff member, denied me the simple pleasure of enjoying a drink or aperitivo, stating rigidly, "This is a restaurant," as if the concept of hospitality had evaded him. In an era where customer service is paramount, and in the year 2024 no less, such behavior is not only antiquated but outright disgraceful.

Valentine's Day, a celebration of love and togetherness, was marred by this individual's judgmental stance, casting a shadow over what should have been a delightful evening. It's disheartening to witness a single employee potentially jeopardizing the reputation of a business that many hold dear.

I am compelled to rate this experience as one star, not out of spite, but as a caution to others about the unwelcoming atmosphere fostered by certain members of the staff. I sincerely hope that this feedback serves as a wake-up call for the management to reevaluate the conduct of its employees, ensuring that future patrons do not encounter such unwarranted disdain.

Furthermore, it's worth noting the apparent language barrier, which could have been an opportunity for a rich cultural exchange, given my fluency in five languages. Unfortunately, the interaction was further limited by the staff member's inadequate linguistic skills, adding another layer of disappointment to the experience.

Un Calo Sconcertante di Ospitalità e Servizio

Come cliente affezionato di questo stabilimento, è con profonda delusione che scrivo questa recensione. La mia fedeltà al ristorante è stata ricambiata con una sorprendente mancanza di cortesia durante la mia visita più recente, un netto distacco dall'accoglienza calorosa che ero venuto ad associare a questo luogo.

In una serata in cui il ristorante era scarsamente popolato, un signore italiano più anziano, presumibilmente un membro dello staff senior, mi ha negato il semplice piacere di godermi un drink o un aperitivo, affermando rigidamente: "Questo è un ristorante", come se il concetto di ospitalità gli fosse sfuggito. In un'era in cui il servizio al cliente è fondamentale, e nell'anno 2024 per di più, tale comportamento non è solo antiquato ma francamente vergognoso.

Inoltre, vale la pena notare la barriera linguistica apparente, che avrebbe potuto essere un'opportunità per un ricco scambio culturale, dato il mio fluire in cinque lingue. Purtroppo, l'interazione è stata ulteriormente limitata dalle scarse competenze linguistiche del membro dello staff, aggiungendo un altro strato di delusione all'esperienza.

Had dinner at this restaurant and and must admit that it’s not my first choice for an Italian restaurant in Berlin.

Food 🍝 The olives as a starter arrived quickly but we had to wait another 10-15min for the bread as it was baked freshly. I loved the olives and the bread, tasted amazing. The burrata and the beef tartare were a bit disappointing to be honest, but decorated nicely. The truffle pasta tasted good, but we’ve had better.

Service and atmosphere ✨ We did enjoy the interior, very authentic. The staff was friendly but did not seem especially excited. Serving time was fair.

Price 💰 As the restaurant is in a very central location, I expected higher prices. But in my opinion it’s a bit overpriced for the quality and taste of the food that you actually get. Especially the tartare was disappointing as the meat seemed low in quality. But I guess that’s personal...
