I make it my business to go here, every time I visit Berlin 🇩🇪, especially for the cinnamon rolls! They do great sandwiches if you wanna stop for lunch and they also do delicious coffee and they offer decaf. I have rated this place, five stars in all areas except service, which I’m rating four stars. I’m not sure if it’s a cultural difference or if the staff are just extremely tired from being busy all the time, but there was no positive energy coming off of the staff member, who served me. I totally get that staff members shouldn’t have to smile or be kind to everyone they meet that would be exhausting, especially in a popular destination like this however, as a solo traveller is something I look out for. Sometimes I can feel uncomfortable in spaces when I don’t feel welcomed. I’m also a black woman and I’m always on highlight when I’m alone and out and about so a little emotional connection or kindness would have given service a five star here.
Absolutely five stars for everything else the food is incredible. The coffee is incredible. The atmosphere is really fun watching tourist come and go if you just wanna sit and people watch .
I will say I don’t like coming here in summer because there are a lot of wasps and it’s all open plan the windows fully open so whether you’re inside or outside there are wasps everywhere in winter which is when I recently went based on this review, not a single wasp in sight And a really...
Read moreOh, Zeit für Brot (near Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz) in Berlin, how sweet it is! This bakery is an absolute gem that offers some of the most delicious bread and pastries around.
From the moment you step inside, you are greeted with the warm and welcoming scent of freshly baked goods. The cozy and rustic decor creates a charming atmosphere that invites you to stay awhile and indulge in the bakery's delights.
And what delights they are! The bread is simply divine, with each loaf boasting its own unique flavor and texture. The sourdough and rye breads are particular favorites, but really, you can't go wrong with any of the offerings. The bakery's commitment to traditional techniques really shines through in the taste and quality of their bread.
But that's not all - the pastries and cakes are equally as wonderful. The croissants are flaky and buttery, the cinnamon rolls are sticky and sweet, and the cheesecake is creamy and indulgent. The presentation of the pastries is also beautiful, making them almost too pretty to eat (but of course, you'll eat them anyway!).
To top it all off, the staff at Zeit für Brot are friendly and attentive, making the overall experience a true delight. Whether you're a local or a visitor to Berlin, this bakery is a must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth or a love for...
Read moreIf you're from the Bay Area, I'd say it's a La Tartine - trendy and overhyped, but without the respectable, industry-changing bread that gives La Tartine the edge and justifies the hype (or price)
Came here twice - once for a coffee, once for their vegan (tofu) sandwich and cinnamon bun with mixed reviews. I expected more of their coffee. The vegan sandwich was made with tofu and beets, making for a very pretty display, but the taste was a bit dry and bland. I'm vegetarian, so I know it's possible to make better veggie sandwiches (despite what my carnivorous friends believe! :)). Cinnamon bun was decadent, very tasty - soft with just the right amount of sweetness. It had that gluten-y pull from tearing a piece off that was just perfect.
Sitting down alone to enjoy my coffee, I unknowingly sat next to a group of "friends", talking in English (presumably from the Bay Area based on their accents) about how sad their friends back at home were while defensively promoting their own very happy lives. Cue rolling eyes. Not a problem with the restaurant itself of course, but beware of the people it may bring if you want some quiet time...
