If you like weird theatrical stuff, supporting indie artists, love monsters, or have ever wondered "what if the Muppets were steampunk?" this is the place for you. Absolutely incredible creations from some great and imaginative artists. Exactly the kind of weird cool and unique stuff I came to Berlin hoping to find!
Tours happen once an hour (website says they happen on the half hour), last about 20 minutes, and adult tickets are €10 in cash. They ask you not to take photos, which I think is important to respect as it keeps the unique creatures resident in the place a surprise for future visitors, and you don't miss anything by trying to get a good shot. If you arrive with a bit of time to spare, there's a really cool bar opposite that has a similar vibe to the Monsterkabinett.
The artist leading the tour was really friendly and clearly loved his work and made it a great experience for everyone. He was multi-lingual and lead our tour in English but also spoke German, and spoke some Italian to an Italian family who were in the group.
They're open to kids going too, but use your own judgement - if your kid is scared of the dark or loud noises, this probably...
Read moreCreated and maintained by an art collective known as the Dead Pigeon Collective, the Monster Kabinett is a warehouse full of strange art and costumed revelers, all waiting to put on a show each Thursday and Friday night. The gallery is safe, of course, but built to instill and inspire as much fright and dread as possible. And rest assured, the Dead Pigeon Collective does that part very well. The Monster Kabinett better seen than heard, which is why their website is built as more of a tour than a repository of dry...

janky - instantly loveable. a technician is visible sat behind a sheer curtain and there are various PC screens and wires on full display.
loud and discordant noises. you walk through in darkness and then they illuminate the monsters one by one. lots of flashing lights so not suitable for people w seizures. the show lasts about 20 mins and there’s a no photos rule.
€10 entry (cash only) and a little gift shop at the end (€25 for a tshirt, €1.50 for a postcard, etc). tips are welcomed. show is at 30 mins past the hour and it’s a popular fringe attraction bc of atlas obscura so try to get there 20 mins early to buy ur ticket and then get a drink in the bar nearby.
