Very rude service. We sat here for a drink before going on the Rhinen boat tour. Firstly the server seemed like he didn’t want our business because he didn’t want to talk to us. When we asked for at table and menu card he just pointed to the place with the tables and told us that there were menu cards at the tables. We sat at a table that quickly got overshadowed because of a tree and no menu cards. We tried moving the table out to the sun but got told that we weren’t allowed to so we moved it back. We saw a better table and took out stuff to sit there. After 5 minutes the server came and asked us to pay because we switched tables but because we didn’t have cash he told us to come inside and pay when we were done. After a while we ordered another round of drinks. We only just finished our second drink when the server again came to the table but this time he demanded that we must go inside to pay. My boyfriend told him with a smirk “you don’t want us here anymore?” and the server didn’t answer. After I paid I asked why we couldn’t sit there till we were done but no answer. Just as we were about to leave the servers called us back and were angry that we apparently didn’t pay the whole amount (which I don’t understand because it’s THEIR job to charge us the right amount) anyway- we paid the rest and quickly left because of the terrible service. The whole conversation with that server were just rushed and distant and not very welcoming....
Read moreWe visited RheinZeit and ordered the gebratene Gambas (6 pcs), the Schlachtplatte for two with fries and sauerkraut (including various sausages and Leberkäse), and a T-bone steak.
Shortly after placing our order, we were pleasantly surprised with warm, freshly baked bread — a lovely touch and very tasty. The T-bone steak was grilled to the perfect level of doneness and remained juicy and flavorful. The sausages and Leberkäse from the Schlachtplatte were also well-prepared and enjoyable.
Unfortunately, the Gambas were overcooked, making them dry and a bit disappointing. Cola was served inconsistently — sometimes with lemon, sometimes without.
The main drawback of the experience was the attitude of the staff. When we arrived, we wanted to sit at the last table at the edge of the terrace to enjoy the view of the Rhine. However, the waiter refused, claiming it wasn’t his service area, and walked away. We had no choice but to pick from the tables he offered. Later we noticed that the same staff was serving all the tables, including the ones we were initially denied.
While the food was generally good, the unwelcoming service left a...
Read moreSpent 10 days in Germany and this was the only bad experience we had. It wasn’t just bad, it was awful. We were seated right away, and then it took us 15 minutes to flag down our server and another 20 minutes after that before we received our drinks. We were in our seats for over an hour before we received our first plate of food, and when they brought it out, they only brought half the tables order. Those of us with food eventually gave up waiting on the other dishes and ended up eating our meals cold, and still finished before the other plates arrived. The remaining dishes were split over multiple platings as well… the dish that took the longest? A kids order of chicken nuggets and French fries. At one point while I was placing our order, our server literally interrupted me to pause so he could send someone a text message. This wasn’t complicated stuff, they were just slow, poorly trained, and...
