Interesting alternative to a traditional city tour, the staff was friendly and competent, great job from them, unfortunately the technical side of the tour couldn't keep up with the expectations, at least for me though. The audio and sound quality of the small cinema, where they showed an informative short film, was just terrible. The vr part was kinda okay, it felt fresh and new, great idea, but the resolution was way a little bit poor, the frame rate was at 30fps at its best, for me it was just to low, if your are sensitive to it you could easily get motion sick while looking to the sides. But the biggest minus is that they missed an opportunity to make the tour more memorable. While your driving through 1909 cologne, there is just no explanation of where you are or what you see. Why they didn't implement it isn't clear to me at all. The staff is totally capable of it, just let them tell you something during the ride. The ride seems a bit out of context, at least from my perspective.

Would I recommend it though? Yes and no, like it is now in late 2019, it depends heavily on your expectations and former experience with VR, if it's new for you go for it, if you are used to VR, you might just be disappointed if you are going into it for the VR Part, which ist by the way a 1/3 of it...

Zusammenfassung: Kann man machen, muss...

The experience is split into three sections 1 ) Some information about the area and it's prominence is given in English and German. There is also a 'Kaiser Panorama' (stereoscope) which shows before and after shots of parts of the city. 2 ) You watch a short movie (5-10 minutes) which shows major events in Cologne from the Roman period to 1945 3 ) You enter a tram and wear VR headsets, it imitates a journey through historic cologne. It lasts about 10 to 15 minutes

Section 1 is very informative but if you only understand English, you will have to wait to use the panorama as the guide will give you the speech in English first. During the German version of the speech, you will be free to use the panorama.

Section 2 is interesting if a little cheesy at some points. The room is quite dark when the movie is on so watch your step.

Section 3 is very immersive due to the combined effects of the VR, the vibration of the tram and a few other things such as a light wind in the face when the tram is in 'motion'. You can get minor motion sickness when the tram virtually 'turns'.

Overall it is very good and I would love...

I walked by this museum, and I saw some digital people on a TV in the window. When I looked inside I saw people sitting in a tram wagon with VR glasses on. So this I had to see. The price of admission is 19.00 for 1 adult. But I found it worth while. You enter the museum where you buy the ticket. Then you enter a room that looks like an theater. Here you have some history of Cologne. And most importantly the Carnival of 1926. You go on the journey to deliver the hat to the new prince Carnival. After the theater you'll enter the hat store where you will learn a thing or two about hat making. When that tour is over a case with the hat is given to the tour group, and you will enter the tramline and make a VR tram ride through Cologne 1926 to the new market to hand over the hat to prince Carnival 1926. The VR looks amazing. And you really need to watch in all directions because a lot happens during the ride. This is an absolute Must see when you visit the City of Cologne.

Worthy of a stop over to get some bite sized and interactive information of Cologne in the 1920s. If it rains , it's a perfect way to spend 45 minutes. They also have an ice cream shop beside that seemed popular but I haven't tried it. Staff were proactive friendly and extremely conversant in English. My one big criticism is the VR glasses were very uncomfortable for those with glasses . It either causes pain or is too loose. Alternatively I had to hold it while experiencing the VR but even then meant it's not aligned and therefore images appear blurry. I feel like I couldn't rly enjoy the full experience of the VR and it's very sad because it looks like a very well put together attraction and I would love to be able to experience it fully

I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed this experience. It starts off with a guide walking you through the historic path that your tram journey will take you on with plenty of opportunity to ask your guide questions. You migrate on to a screening of colognes history. From here you step onto the tram and engage in your virtual reality experience. There was an option of both English or German tour and VI experience. It's up to date technology and I was really impressed by the quality of the rendering and overall "feeling" of it. Definitely a recommended tourist activity
