Imagine yourself transported to the vibrant streets of India, where the aroma of spices fills the air and the flavours dance on your tongue. That's the experience I had at Sarvana Bhavan, a renowned Indian restaurant that has been delighting diners for decades. From the moment I stepped through the door, I was greeted by the warmth and hospitality of the staff.
The menu at Sarvana Bhavan is a testament to the diversity of Indian cuisine, showcasing dishes from both the north and south of the country. I opted for a classic South Indian feast, starting with fluffy idlis and soft lentil dumplings served with a savoury sambar and tangy chutney. These were followed by crispy dosas, thin crepes made from fermented rice and lentils, filled with potatoes and onions, and accompanied by a spicy coconut chutney. I washed it all down with a refreshing glass of lassi, a yogurt-based drink that perfectly complemented the rich flavours of the meal.
Every dish was prepared with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that the flavours were balanced and harmonious. The spices were perfectly seasoned, adding a depth of flavour without overpowering the delicate ingredients. The textures were also a delight, with the fluffy idlis, crispy dosas, and creamy lassi providing a symphony of sensations.
Beyond the culinary excellence, the service at Sarvana Bhavan was truly exceptional. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, guiding me through the menu and ensuring that my every need was met. They were also patient with our questions about the cuisine, providing us with insights into the origins and preparation of the dishes we ordered.
My dining experience at Sarvana Bhavan was nothing short of extraordinary. The food was absolutely phenomenal, showcasing the rich diversity and culinary artistry of Indian cuisine. The service was impeccable, with the staff going above and beyond to ensure our satisfaction. If you're looking for an authentic Indian dining experience that will tantalize your taste buds and leave you feeling pampered, Sarvana Bhavan is the place to be. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a culinary adventure that will transport them to the...

The OG Saravana Bhavan in Chennai (with a bigger crowd) handles customers far better than this branch. So we reached this place with a group of 9 and a toddler. Of course, there is no system of reservation in this place so we came to the entrance inquiring whether there is a room for our group or not, hoping to have a warm lunch here on a cold afternoon. No greeting or an effortless smile from anyone from the staff. We were polite and stayed without causing any disruption to the existing customers. We were asked how many of us we were FOUR times by different staffs but no one concluded whether we should stay, or if there was any delay. They would ask and be on their way. Because I could see that people entering the place who had a fairer skin got preferential treatment I asked the person behind the bar if he could give us an indication how much more time it could take for the tables to open up, he was quite annoyed with that question and straightaway requested us as a group to move out of the restaurant. Absolutely rude and crass behaviour. If you wanted us to wait outside you should have your staff at the gate. We moved out however due to the lack of coordination within their staff’s, another person who took our count earlier let us in and we were cramped into a space next to the washroom. Food: It wasn’t great. We requested extra chutney and it took them 10 mins to fill a steel bowl smaller than the palm of our hands and bring it to us. We left after we’re done but could overhear a heated discussion between the staff and another group of customers for the really...
Read moreIf you have a taste for Veg Southindian food, you will already be familiar with the Saravanaa Bhavan brand. The food in general is good and satisfying. We went there with family friends on a nice warm afternoon, expecting to have a long wait time (earlier experinece by my friends) but were surprised with an immediate availability with options to sit outside or inside :-) We chose a nice seat outside and noth ambiance, service and food were satisfying. The trick is to stick to the basics - idli, vada, sambhar, masala dosa were all excellent, coconut chutny exceptional and green chutny not out of the world, but decent. The menu is elaborate with mix of northindian and Chinese dishes too but I would not recommend too much exprimentation here. Chole Bature and Poori aloo were also fantastic!! But I tried some fried idli expecting it to be southindian taste but was idli coated with cornflower and in a chinese semi gravy, not at al lwhat i was expecting! We ordered a thaali too which was a mixed bag - tamaring rice was too sour (I knwo it is meant to be sour but not this much :-), curd rice was OK and other rices very forgetable. Dip idli was good, paneer 65 we struggled to finish (not great). Do not bother about the desserts either - limited choices/availability and I would not recommend. Payasam of the day was less than ordinary, falooda not to anyone's taste from our group of 6 adults and kids. In all ,excellent place to spend a godo time with nice outdoor seating. In terms of food, stick to the basics, southindian stuff and you will...
