We went here 11 all together. Had a guy who kept us well taken care of, entertaining = animating and keeping us well supplied with drinks! The food we ordered was cooked good and was very tasty! Why 1 star? Just after eating we were having a good time with the people on two fairly full tables around us. This included laughing and clapping. Other guests on the other 2 tables did likewise. In fact those guests on the other two tables had actually started with clapping and cheering. Then came the "Schreck" from the "Kammer" a woman who let us know with a harsh, unfriendly tone, " no clapping and having a good time in an unacceptable way". This ruined the good feeling we all had and for that I do not care to spend my money! Maybe she should go to the cellar if she wants to laugh! But it is strange at a place that is well decorated with Fasching Carnival scenes, that it is a problem to laugh or clap (by products of having fun). What would happen...
Read moreLively Local Spot with Great Food and Beer We found this place through a travel book we picked up in the U.S., and it turned out to be a fantastic recommendation. It has a fun, local beer hall vibe with communal seating, which made for a lively and welcoming atmosphere. The beer flows freely here—just place your coaster on top of your glass when you’re done, otherwise it keeps coming! The staff was friendly, and the crowd seemed to be in great spirits.
The menu had plenty of hearty options. We tried the pork schnitzel with Puszta sauce and the schnitzel with French-style Béarnaise sauce—both were absolutely delicious. Meals came with a flavorful brothy soup to kick things off (and maybe make you crave more beer) and fresh, tasty salads. Prices were very reasonable, and the whole experience felt authentically local. It’s just about a 10-minute walk from the cathedral—definitely worth the visit, and we’d...
Read moreStumbled upon this place because every bar and restaurant in the city center was a madhouse due to the first day of Karneval on Saturday 11 November 2023. This brewpub was a welcome break from the madness. Busy but not crowded, no line to get in, and families dressed up in costume but not hammered...sign me up! The food menu is a mix of regional specialties and classic traditional German offerings. Likely the cheapest metthappen in town at only €2,20! Their Kölsch is refreshing with the proper malt profile and a crisp finish. Mellow, barny, clean, delicious. Not the best in town but really good and pairs well with their food. Also really well-priced at €1,90 for a 0.2L pour! I even had a shot of their Kammerschreck liquor to finish the visit. A great...
