We came to Bar Olio twice before, to get some beers while exploring the area. This time, we came for dinner. Even on a Tuesday, this place was packed. We waited for 20 minutes or so, and then got our cozy table. The menu is on chalkboards, and the servers aren’t especially fluent in English.. but with our little German language ability and the patient and outgoing staff, we made some great menu picks. Starters were a basket of bread, plus mackerel sashimi and salmon belly sashimi. Halibut steak, Dorado Fillet, Spaghetti Vongole. The sashimi dishes were fantastic- bright flavors and textures. The main dishes were good as well, my Spaghetti Vongole was very strong with garlic, the clams were nice, and the noodles were firm with a good flavor.. just how I like it. The other entrees were well enjoyed as well.

I'm delighted to give Bar Olio a well-deserved 5-star rating. The quality of the food was truly outstanding. Every dish we tried was prepared to perfection, showcasing the culinary expertise of the kitchen. But what made our dining experience even more memorable was the staff. They were attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. Their professionalism and warmth added to the overall appeal of the restaurant. The ambiance of Bar Olio was also noteworthy. The place was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, making it a perfect spot for a pleasant dining experience. In conclusion, Bar Olio offers a combination of great food, excellent service, and a comfortable atmosphere. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a top-notch Italian dining experience in Düsseldorf.

We got there expecting a long queue but no-one was waiting. However, we had to wait for around 10 min till the waiters realised we were there; they saw us when we arrived there but somehow they just didn't care we were waiting. Then, they approached us in a very arrogant way that I felt they were making us a favor. Once inside, they put us in a table where another couple was already sitting, ... we all were sitting very close to each other...something very unpleasant. It seems it is a normal rule in this restaurant and they just dont care about covid pandemic measures. Inside we waited for another 10 min till someone spotted us and brought the menu, still in the same arrogant way. We then decided to have just a drink and eat something small because we didn't feel well in such an environment. At the end, we asked the bill, paid and didn't want to leave any tip but the waiter didn't bring us back the change. We waited a bit but nothing. We then left very disappointed and confused. We will never go back to this place for sure. There are plenty of good options in town. Hope our experience helps anyone that wants to go...

A Culinary Gem

Bar Olio is the place to be if you’re looking for a dining experience that hits all the right notes. The food is top-notch, with every dish meticulously cooked and tastefully presented, bursting with rich, balanced flavors. The vibe is a perfect mix of chill and sophisticated, drawing in locals who clearly know their stuff.

The friendly service and cool, cozy atmosphere make for an all-around awesome time.

The wine list is diverse and caters to all budgets. Plus, Bar Olio boasts a fantastic open-space garden for a relaxed outdoor dining experience, or you can opt for a more intimate dinner at the counter.

Heads up: Bar Olio is cash-only, so make sure to come prepared.

In short, Bar Olio is a must-visit for its killer food, trendy ambiance, and great wine selection. Definitely a spot to hit up...
