I recently visited this restaurant while in another city, unaware of the local break from 14:30 to 17:00, as we’re from Berlin, there’s typically no such break. We arrived around 13:10 and were not informed that the restaurant would close at 14:30. After a 30-minute wait for a table, the staff pressured us to order immediately, even though my friends were delayed due to a train issue. They insisted we needed to order right away because they would be closing soon. Unfortunately, we couldn’t place an order without all our party present.
Two male staff members came over to further press us, which felt quite overwhelming. Had we known our time was so limited, we wouldn’t have chosen to dine here. The rushed atmosphere made it impossible to enjoy our meal, which was already overpriced and underwhelming.
I tried explaining that we weren’t aware of the early closing time. The staff mentioned it was posted on the door with an attitude, but I’m fairly certain there was no notice about the lunch break (see attached photo). Overall, this experience was disappointing and frustrating. As someone who studies and works in the hospitality industry, it’s disheartening to see restaurants operate this way, treating customers as if they are a burden rather than a priority.
The food didn't meet our expectations. The grilled dish was quite salty, and the chicken lacked flavor. However, the udon and unagi dishes were enjoyable.

We have found our way to Düsseldorf, after a full day of relaxing at the tropical spa. Our first destination was Kushi-Tei! Excited because we saw a lot on social media pages about this restaurant. Our plans changed so we had to return to the Netherlands but since we are here, we decided to try out the kushiyaki and yakitori.
Food: We have chosen the set with miso soup, the set comes with duck breast, shrimps, chicken and USA short rib. It tasted amazing! It reminded me of a shop in Nagoya back in 2018 where it was amazing aswell.
Service: I like the entrance greetings and when you leave the restaurant. Very Japanese and cute. The service was great and I forgot to make a picture of the hot towel they give you but it also had their logo on it. Pretty nice! Also they serve Coca-Cola in a 330ml bottle so everything is Fineeeeee. With a lemon and 2 ice cubes, just perfect.
Atmosphere: It is a cute restaurant with a traditional Japanese interior. You’ll get a nice table which really gives that Japanese vibe. The restaurant is mostly fully booked so prepare to make a reservation.
Thankyou Kushi-Tei! We will be back for sure, thankyou for having us.

Read moreUsually (last 10 years) we go to Yabase to eat Japanese. This was our first time at Kushi-Tei of Tokyo and we were amazed by the service and quality of the food. Compared to Yabase, Kushi-Tei of Tokyo has much more variety, equal or better food quality, and is less overpriced. This place is run by Japanese staff and very authentic — not like the many different “Japanese” restaurants run by Chinese or Southeastern Asians that are mainly focused on ramen or sushi.
The variety of the menu is quite astonishing — they offer everything from soups, barbecue, noodles to sushi, sashimi, and fried dishes. The staff was friendly and kept serving the food without any long waiting times between dishes. The quality of all dishes was perfect — we were surprised about the freshness and quality of the raw fish because that’s something the restaurant does not specialize in. The facilities were clean and the restaurant is spacious. It is possible to sit outside or inside. We expect high quality and that is why we will come again! Well done Kushi-Tei of Tokyo...
