Cafe Sugar Mama — Restaurant in Frankfurt

We come here sometimes especially in the beginning of the week when we don’t have to work at our own venue. My favorites are the sandwiches, the tuna one 1️⃣ is super delicious. The sour dough bread is extremely tasty. I like Oatmilk on my cappuccino, no problem with sugar mama, always there are nice milk alternative choices. It can get sometimes quite busy at the counter but we always had a good experience with staff. I can’t really follow certain reviews here. Service is very friendly. A few words to the bathrooms. There’s only one for all - but it is very clean and shiny with a personal touch. This is very good other places should copy that. The only minus point for me is that cards are not accepted - it’s cash only. In 2024 this is in my opinion a necessary feature, it will raise the proceeds and it’s also easier for accounting (own experience). Card terminals are nowadays very affordable without monthly fees or rents with many low fee and non contract providers. Personally I will spend more money if I could pay with card/phone and it’s uncomfortable to search and seek an ATM. But everybody has the choice - we will come back anyways as we really like the place and these were just few...

Sugar mama was always one of my favourite cafes for a breakfast, but it seems it is spoiled by people's love. Today was my second time here during the month and the staff forgot about one of the breakfasts for the second time as well. We asked the waitress to check three or four times, but she didnt even try. No apologies, totally unfriendly, only said 'Alter' when she forgot to bring bread when my food was finally there. and this is after 1.5h of waiting. additionaly, the dresscode of the waitress was unacceptable. I am still ok with a sport bra, but, sorry, having food and seeing underwear under the transparent sport leggings is not the best thing you can offer.

In total - still great food, but the service gets worse and worse every time. Not sure I will either visit the cafe or recommend it in the nearest future.

P.S. forgot to say that a lot of positions in the menu were not available (granola, 3 types of bread) and it was...

I live Zürich, CH. Lived in NYC and couple of other vibrant places. =Spoiled by friendly, hands on service, and top notch fresh, nourishing, trendy food. But I also do appreciate the forgotten small, family run type of cafes and bistros, it doesn’t always has to be most modern approach and fastest service. Now here none of the both did apply. The lady yesterday at the counter (lunch time, but was super empty)was not nice. And gave a feel of having ZERO motivation to be kind to us. I even tried to be engaging in hopes for a “warmer” treatment. Nope. She also interrupted me in the middle of my question, to talk to the postman who just walked in. I am actually happy we decided to not eat there ( it’s CA$H only ..) as the food at the counter didn’t look super fresh - but I will not take that into account for my review, as I didn’t taste...
