Decent coffee! Totally unfriendly service.
I was going to give this place a really positive review as I came this morning for a coffee.
Unfortunately i came back for a second visit in the afternoon and was met with some of the most unfriendly and arrogant service I have ever experienced at a cafe.
I am a traveller and all travelers know how important it is to be able to have a pit-stop, recharge your batteries - both coffee / food but also when possible, your Phone!
I noticed that all of their power-points were closed off and so I asked very openly and innocently if they perhaps had anywhere to charge my phone as it was very low on battery after a whole day of sightseeing, taking photos…
The barista’s response was such a cold NO - followed by “we don’t have that” and then “Why should that be my problem?” - fair enough, that’s quite a stiff policy and unfortunately as customers we have to respect that - but to been answered in such a passive aggressive way without any reason to do so to such an innocent question - I find the height of rudeness.
As customers, and from having worked in a cafe for over 10 years - it is most important to make everyone feel welcome. If you have a strict policy with no laptops, chargers or whatever it may be - that’s fine! But if a customer doesn’t even know that, you can’t just assume - especially if it isn’t indicated anywhere. If they ask, especially so innocently - at least be friendly? I felt instantly like I was not welcome there - and they could have the best coffee in the world but i wouldn’t want to drink it. Sorry - maybe i caught the guy on a bad day? But customers shouldn’t have to suffer for your bad vibes.
I strongly recommend...
Read moreI forgot to leave a comment for Holy Cross after having some bad experiences but it is better late than never.
Positives: Good coffee. Location is Top, near to Main.
Negatives: The communication with the customer. The owner was very rude to warn me about the rule regarding no laptops on weekends. It is not about the rule but how it was communicated to the customer. Nobody is supposed to read the menu in all the details. If you are not able to handle communication with the customer, maybe you have chosen a wrong profession.
Another time I was in a heated discussion with a guy who was offended by me touching his jacket which he left hung on a chair on a table next to where he was sitting. It was empty and we sat there of course. He was acting like he owns all the tables and I guess he must be friends with the owner or employees. None of the employees dealt with the issue and I have solved it myself.
Experiences can be negative but I don’t think it deserves a total zero. You can still have a good coffee and...
Read moreAll comments appear to be rather good, the coffee shots are good indeed, very rich, but one barista has certain attitude to non-German speaker, doesn’t necessarily to be called a racist... but she certainly smiles a lot to native customers... • • • You could say it’s baseless but everybody’s comments came from their experience, so does my comment, I wasn’t calling any names but based on what I felt, it’s not super friendly. After checking some of the other comments, I think it could also because I wanted to used my laptop. I understand that computer user would normally spend longer there, it doesn’t look very good for customer flow. But I think cafe should be a working friendly space. And if customers can’t feel welcoming enough or comfortable to stay longer, you might lose lots of them for this reason. Like my case, i left in 20 mins cuz it feels more irritating after reading all computer banish comments plus the confusing attitude...
