Was very disappointed after going here yesterday. My children's first time in Germany & first restaurant we picked to get good food & experience. After we finished our meal we just sat there with our empty dishes for more than 30 minutes as our waitress constantly walked past us & went to the other two tables she was waiting on. Never did she stop & ask if needed anything or if we were finished which obviously we were. We even put our dishes to the side of the table to signify we our done with our meal. It wasn't super busy so I don't know why we were literally ignored how we were. We wanted dessert but after just sitting there being treated like ghosts by staff me & my kids didn't want dessert anymore we just wanted to pay for our meal & leave. After our waitress looked at us & walked past our table for the thousandth time I finally decided to get up & go speak to someone about. I had to go to the front of the restaurant (once again wasn't super busy in there so no reason why our table should have been ignored) & ask if I can pay for our meal now & let them know that we were waiting more than 30 minutes. So he sends me back to table & sends our waitress over with the bill. The bill is incorrect & over 100 euro when it was just me & my two kids eating 57 euro worth of food. So she had to correct that then she put machine on the TIP screen. I should have just been honest with her & let her know that after this experience NO I DID NOT WANT TO TIP, but silly me trying not to be rude put in 5 euro tip when no tip was deserved after the service we had which was basically no service. I regretted choosing this restaurant. We were treated way better at a very busy pizza place recently that gave excellent service yet here wasn't even busy & we were literally ignored. It was just insane how she kept walking past us & each time I thought for sure ok now she's coming to check on us - NOPE never happened. I would not recommend this place while in Frankfurt. I've never been treated so poorly in my life at any restaurant anywhere in the world. The waitress was very apologetic for the bill mix up but what is her reason for ignoring us like she did for more than 30 minutes (cause all I could do is sit there & look at the time). Good luck if you go here. Maybe you'll get service...

Paulaner Wirsthause am Dom is located in Frankfurt.
It is a quaint restaurant, boasting expansive dining rooms, each inspired by authentic Germany traditions and architecture.
For visitors, it's important to know that not every restaurant is different when it comes to seating. Some you wait to be seated by staff like Paulaner, others you simply walk in, roam around and sit at any table you'd like -- with the exception of those with 'reserved' signs.
To this point, it's very common for restaurants in Germany to hold tables for reservations, so while they may be empty, they may not necessarily be made available. This was the issue the first time we tried Paulaner.
Ok - service was great, and friendly.
The menu was a bit confusing between descriptions and expectations.
Example: We ordered "Pretzel with Bavarian cream cheese and herb cream cheese with onion rings, radish"
The photo showed a brownish onion ring - just as Americans would expect the deep fried kind. What we actually got were just sliced raw onions. The photo was brown because of some kind of seasoning but we didn't even get that. The pretzel was also a bit small so for nearly 10 euros quite overpriced.
However the portions we found in German restaurants, like this one otherwise ARE quite large. Even the salads that came with the meals were a hearty portion.
The food was good and generous.
Also know, in terms of appetizers and main meals, Food comes out FAST. Very fast. However, once your meal is served, rarely will a Germany server check back in to make sure everything is OK, and often when you're down, you have to wait - and wait - and wait - or try to track down your server to get the bill.
That was the experience here, and at most of the restaurants we visited in Germany.
Overall I give four stars...
Read moreWe did a reservation for lunch. The aesthetic of the place is traditional Germany, which looks good for tourists. We wanted to try the traditional schnitzel with green sauce. It isn't something outstanding but overall it's a nice price since, when ordering a meal dish it comes with an extra individual salad. We couldn't finish it all. The price for everything and a big bottle of water was 50,50€ which I consider appropriate for a tourist restaurant as such. I am vegetarian but sadly their vegetarian options are not so german based which is a bit disappointing since they could just offer the traditional green sauce with potatoes and eggs. The worst part of the experience would be the service. It was nice-okay. We didn't engage with the waiter and at the moment of the payment he complained about the fact we didn't give any tips by saying 'do you know that in Germany tips are not included?'. As a waitress that kind of pissed me off because it shows you that they don't care about providing a good service unless you are willing to tip them. Besides, when I was ordering (as a tourist I don't know german) he was kind of pissed at the fact I was ordering in english and said 'it's not that difficult'. In case he reaches this review: tips are a reward for your service/recommendations/speed/smile and treatment to customers not our job to give because you are not happy with...
