Metropol am Dom - Café & Restaurant — Restaurant in Frankfurt

It was one of the worst places I’ve ever been to due to their lack of service!

I arrived there and was waiting for someone to show me where to set but nobody came, so I sat down on of the available tables and waited for ca.15 min for someone to give me the menu -knowing that the place wasn’t crowded- but no one came to us, but they placed people came after us and hand them the menu and took their orders as well!!!

After trying to call one of the waitresses for more than once to get the menu/place an order, one of them came as if she wasn’t willing to and told us in a rude tone that we were sitting on a table for 4 while we were only two and that we have to wait so she can go talk to someone else! -knowing also that there were other people sitting on tables that were for 4 people while they were only 2 PLUS there weren’t enough tables for only two people-!!!

As the waitresses told us to wait even more, I left the place immediately!!

Been coming here for 22 years and unfortunately after this incident, won't any more. Older lady staff member came up to us as we'd tentatively sat down, not seeing any staff and the place was almost empty (maybe 5-6 people sitting in the whole place, which is big). She accused us of entering without permission and told us to leave the table as it was reserved, without suggesting an alternative. She said that people had been coming in without waiting for explicit permission all day and she was tired of it. I did discuss it with her as I just felt like we were treated rudely and not as if they cared about the customers. It isn't a crime to walk into a cafe and try to get something to eat, but she made us feel bad for not waiting outside the door. Sadly won't come here again despite the food, drinks selection being very solid, but to be treated like that is just inappropriate, and actually surprising since the staff was always fine before....

I wish I had the chance to give 5 negative stars! The most rude staff I have ever seen in my life!

They told us to leave as there was no table for us (everything was reserved although I was told that I could not make a reservation neither on line nor by phone and that I needed to go there) So we went there, we entered the place and the lady behaved us like we were rubbish on the floor. In addition she turned around and she locked the entrance door behind us. (Just in the case that other customers would dare to enter this place)!!! So, we could not even escape the place, as he had to find the emergency exit and jump over some additional chairs that she put around for the same reason. Shame on you, I wish that more and more people will stop passing through the Metropols’ doors. There are definitely better places around the Dom with better coffee and much better staff.
