Great présentation, priced similarly to Paris, but not as good as I expected.
Like most pâtisseries in Germany the quality of the macarons fell short of the usual French standards. The cream filling was very thick and the taste of fat overpowered the macaron biscuits. Which was a pity actually because finally we found a place that can get the macaron biscuit textures right. Of the two we tried (raspberry-rose & pistachio-cherry), the raspberry rose one was one of the best-tasting rose macarons I've had tried in Germany. I'll be back just for those!
We sampled the mini versions of the Opera cake, Mango-passion fruit tart, Tout Chocolat, raspberry-pistachio tart and the Lila. Without spoiling the surprise too much for you all , we can only recommend the Opera and the mango-passion fruit tart. The rest were either imbalanced or extremely sweet without character.
Some good stuff here worth returning for. But big minus points for the giant misses.
Overall for the price we paid (and even more than what better pâtisseries in Paris would ask for), we expected something much better.
Price as of Feb 2018: 2 € per macaron / 2.50 € for an espresso / 6.90 € for a...
Read moreI have already been twice and I can say that I am not impressed. The cakes are quite expensive for what you get, and the taste of the cakes themselves is ok, nothing special but they at least look good . The biggest problem I have is with the service, more precisely, mostly with the waiters who give you that unpleasant and unwelcome feeling. In these 2 times I was there, I only took a cake without a drink and the looks I got were really unpleasant. You simply don't get a welcome service or a smile. Not to mention how as soon as you enter, you have about one second to know what you're going to eat or, I repeat, you get that feeling that you're in the way. When was my time to leave, not once in these two times did I receive either a thank you or a goodbye, even though I was the first to say thank you. Generally, better service comes from people who buy more things or obviously have more money, it's simply not for ordinary people. I gave them a second chance, but they won't...
Read moreWe taste test chocolates throughout Europe. It is difficult to do so here because the small selection they have are really a thin veneer of chocolate around a particular filling. The fillings are quite good, but one struggles to really taste the chocolate since there is so little of it. One last note: to the short-haired woman behind the counter who was put off by us not speaking German...you work at a boutique dessert shop catering in no small part to tourists. If it is too much for you to be cordial to tourists who come to spend money at your shop, perhaps a change of employment is needed. We certainly would have spent more money here had our attendant been friendlier and more...
