We ordered €116.70 for takeout yesterday. It is a very normal price from Madame Mei for a dinner meal in a household with 4 people. Therefore, it is not so cheap. Yet the attitude is so shockingly bad!
When I called to order, the waitress was already not so friendly on the phone. Amongst all the dishes I ordered, I wanted to also order 香酥芝麻鴨 (Crispy sesame duck) . Instead of telling me that they had only 香酥芝麻雞(Crispy sesame chicken), she questioned me several times and said, “ever since I’ve worked in the restaurant, I’ve never heard of that dish! “ (Is it necessary?)
I didn’t want to be also as blunt. So I finished the ordering, thinking maybe it’s because her accent, that made me feel not used to it - therefore a bit impolite.
I asked my friend to pick up the food. Since we ordered quite a few, I also asked my friend to please double check with the restaurant for the dishes we ordered. (We did have a previous experience that Madame Mei forgot to give us the food we ordered. It was the day we had guests and a banquet at home. When my husband arrived home with the food that he didn’t double check during pickup, I was of course unhappy with his carelessness. We immediately called Madame Mei for the forgotten dish and asked them to send it to our Ostend home. They said cannot. Because we didn’t want to risks the chance that the food was not enough for our guests, my husband had to drive out again in the traffic to get the food and correct this wrong doing by the restaurant. It was for us very embarrassing that we wanted to share with our guests the best Chinese food in Frankfurt, but at the end, they all learned Madame Mei is not careful and lack of service.)
Okay, all is still fine - not worth for a google review like this. We all understand, accident happens - even though unpleasant.
But yesterday, after this rather blunt ordering phone call. When my friend went to pick up the food, the lady in the restaurant REJECTED my friend’s request to confirm my order. She didn’t allow my friend to check my ordering list! The lady was so loud and emotional, that a guy from the back had to come out with my ordering list. She threw the list in the bag and said to my friend something along the line: “it is because the society has people like you; therefore, is a mess…”
Excuses me? I would have thought, it is the restaurant’s responsibility to show the customers what they’ve ordered before paying. Or at lease, they should feel glad when the customers want to double check at pickup to avoid latter misunderstandings?
My friend is a very polite young lady. She tried to explain, we just wanted to make sure the order is correct. The Madame Mei lady was very angry, “it’s not my fault, if it’s incorrect. It’s because you don’t know how to order! I NEVER MAKE MISTAKES!”
My friend arrived my place. She was in shock and in tears and asked me why do I like the food from this place? And if they bullied her because she looks like a University student?
No matter how good the food is, no one should be treated so terribly as a customer! Let along it is...
Read more14/09/2022 . I wanted to treat my friend with nice Dim Sum. Dim Sum were all good. But if you consider the price, cannot go too often. My experience is not about the taste to share here. It's about their service. When we wanted to order a beer, the lady said that they have only KIRIN ( Japanese beer). We wanted to order TSING TAO first and then HEFE WEISEN if there is NO TSING TAO. She said several times " NUR KIRIN, KIRIN IST GUT!" My friend and I, we both understand and speak german. So, we ordered KIRIN. We haven't met for 5 years so that we were busier for talking than eating. She interrupted our conversation and "IST GUT? KIRIN GUT ODER?" We realize that the bottle was empty so that we ordered 2KIRIN again. Later 6 Japanese men sat next us and they ordered TSING TAO. My friend and I watched that the 6 TSING TAO were served. We both looked each other with this..' what the..' as soon as I finished my beer , I asked the other lady that I would like to have one TSING TAO. And....she brought me TSING TAO. Amazing!!! I have been this restaurant 4 times. Every time I felt that their service is not as good as the price. But that day the serving women, smiling face without respect for customers , I wouldn't forget for long times. It was strange and unpleasant...
Read moreSimilar to good Sushi, excellent Dim Sum has its price. Are you looking for dim sum in quality comparable to HK and Macao restaurants? Seek no more, and try Madame Mei. Dim Sum is a combination of many small dishes served in little baskets, and my recommendation are: Ha Gao (the shrimp dumpling), very thin skin and delicous flavour Xiao Long Bao. Very thin skin, juicy, and very tasty meat. Try to put it in your mouth without breaking the skin, and be rewarded with a explosion of delicious tastes! my personal favourite, the salty egg yolk baos: Liu Xia Bao! Basically these are little breads filled with delicious hot egg yolk. Believe me that they are super tasty and extremely addictive. In the past we made strange experiences with a waiter asking weird private questions, but he seems to no longer work there, and now, the service was flawless. Also since our last visit, the menu was extended considerably, while maintaining excellent food quality. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the open area is very comfortable in summer. The bathrooms looks lovely. Price a bit higher, but absolutely worth it. Combined with excellent service and a friendly owner, this place guarantees an unforgettable delicious...
