Pearly Gates — Restaurant in Frankfurt

We were told by our hotel bar staff that if we were looking for craft cocktails, Pearly Gates was the spot—and wow, I’m so glad we listened! After checking out a few other places that were closed, my friend and I decided to give it a shot since it was just down the street. Let me tell you, this girl from Oklahoma was impressed!

We made our reservation via Instagram and were greeted and seated right away. From the moment we walked in, the vibe was on point. Our cocktail waitress was an absolute gem—warm, attentive, and just radiating hospitality. The cocktails? Crafted to perfection. They even accommodated our special requests with ease and enthusiasm.

As a bartender and bar manager who travels often in search of standout spots, I can confidently say Pearly Gates showed out. The creativity, the service, the energy—it was all there. You’ve got a phenomenal team, especially your cocktail waitress who truly made our night unforgettable.

And let’s not forget the DJ you had about a week ago—🔥🔥🔥. The music was electric and elevated the whole experience.

Leider bin ich sehr enttäuscht von diesem Ort. Ich war noch nie in Pearly Gates Bar und wollte etwas Neues ausprobieren. Ich hatte 2 Wochen im Voraus einen Tisch dort reserviert, um meinen Geburtstag zu feiern. Ich hatte darum gebeten, dass der Tisch gut sein sollte, und ausdrücklich darauf hingewiesen, dass ich meinen Geburtstag feiere.

Als wir dort ankamen, bekamen wir einen Tisch, an dem gerade jemand anderes gesessen hatte. Der Tisch wurde trotz der aktuellen Covid-Situation nicht einmal gereinigt. Außerdem stand der Tisch direkt am Eingang, von wo es natürlich sehr windig war, da es jetzt Januar ist und es draußen kalt ist. Der Tisch war sehr klein mit einem kleinen Hocker daneben. Als ich darum bat, den Tisch zu wechseln, wurde mir verweigert, obwohl in diesem Moment die Hälfte der Tische leer war. Mir wurde gesagt, dass alles reserviert sei. Dann bat ich darum, mir wenigstens einen normalen Stuhl zu bringen (in der Bar gab es genug) statt eines kleinen Hockers, auf dem keine von uns sitzen konnte, da wir alle sehr groß sind. Auch dies wurde mir verweigert. Infolgedessen saßen wir ca. 15 Minuten lang, der Tisch wurde nie gereinigt und die Getränkekarte wurde uns nicht gebracht. Nach 15 Minuten kam die Kellnerin auf uns zu und fragte, was wir bestellen möchten (ich möchte daran erinnern, dass uns die Getränkekarte nie zur Verfügung gestellt wurde). Als ich darum bat, wenigstens den Tisch für uns abzuwischen, antwortete uns die Kellnerin mit einem unangenehmen Grinsen „sehr gerne“ und ging sofort. Wir warteten etwas länger, aber niemand kam auf uns zu. Das war der letzte Strohhalm und dann haben wir diesen Ort einfach verlassen.

Es tut mir leid, dass die Bar solche Mitarbeiter hat. Es scheint, dass solche Betriebe während der Covid-Zeit etwas Kundenorientierung verloren haben. Ich hoffe, das war ein Einzelfall. Aber der Eindruck der Pearly Gates Bar für uns alle wurde durch eine...

I’m not sure what the criteria are or how the staff decides who gets in, but the security at the entrance behaves as if this place is Berghain or an exclusive private club. They take one look at you and declare it’s full—even when it’s visibly half-empty. No questions, no discussions. What’s even more absurd is that you’re not allowed to linger for a moment to figure out where to go next; the security immediately approaches and tells you to leave the area.
