Title: Disappointing Experience at Pizza & Pasta Scialpi

Review: We visited Pizza & Pasta Scialpi on November 7, 2024, for an evening meal with a friend. We started with bruschetta, followed by Linguine Burrata with basil for my friend, and I had Orecchiette Aglio e Olio with prawns.

Food Quality: Unfortunately, the food quality did not meet our expectations. The bruschetta had a mealy texture that detracted from the experience. The linguine was served with a basic, canned-tasting tomato sauce, a small, dry piece of burrata, and a single basil leaf. My Orecchiette Aglio e Olio came with prawns that were rubbery and lacked freshness. Given the number of prawn dishes on the menu, this was surprising and disappointing.

Service and Billing Issue: The service was adequate until the end, where a billing issue occurred. Our meal, including a large bottle of water, was €54, to which we added a €4 tip. However, upon reviewing the bill, I noticed we were charged for two soft drinks instead of the large water. When I inquired, the server explained that they “always do it this way” and assured me that the cost was the same, which I found unusual.

Upon exiting, I checked the menu and discovered that the price for a large water was significantly lower than two soft drinks, totaling €9.80. While the difference was only a few euros, the principle was important. I returned to address this with the owner, giving her the opportunity to correct the charge. Instead, she dismissed my concern, suggesting, “We can just adjust the tip.”

This response was unprofessional, as gratuities are intended for service, not to cover arbitrary charges. This interaction left a negative impression, as it felt like an intentional way to increase the bill. I chose to avoid further confrontation and left, but this incident raised concerns about transparency in billing practices at this establishment.

In summary, both the food quality and customer service fell short of what one would expect. Honest business practices are essential in any establishment, and unfortunately, that was lacking here. I would not recommend this restaurant, particularly to tourists, as the overall experience did not...

Below average pizza Terrible service. Rude waiter and lady at the cash counter !!!

Ordered a pizza that was supposed to have cherry tomatoes, but did not and they used the regular ones which was absolutely tasteless As I was chatting hadn’t noticed and at some point the no taste kicked in, on reporting to the waiter he said they ran out of cherry tomatoes, only to see in 5 minutes the table next to us and with time many other tables did have cherry tomatoes ! What do you even make out of this?!

On reporting this to him again, he said I am only a waiter and not the cook …seriously ?! Obviously he offered a coffee which I declined, but 26€ for an average pizza with tasteless tomatoes?!

While mentioning this to the lady at the cash counter while billing, hers was an even epic reply because she Said “All tomatoes taste the same”!!! And it doesn’t make a difference. Probably those who have eaten good food know the difference… Not even willing to listen as I wanted to ask her why did they have to lie?! Is that how you render service and apologize to a customer without taking any ownership of your fault and lying you ran out of cherry tomatoes, while serving every other table around!
