We came to this place attracted by the good reviews and the nice spot right next to the river. There was a big queue in order to take a seat and we decided it seemed worthy, so we waited for approximately 30 minutes before taking a seat. Unfortunately the experience didn't live up the expectations. We ordered 4 gourmet breakfasts with some coffee. The coffees came first and they were alright, the problem is that the breakfasts for 4 people took almost one hour to come to the table so by that time the coffees were more than cold. I can understand that some complex elaboration dishes like a paella can take some time, but almost one hour for 4 breakfasts consisting in 1 piece of smoked salmon, 4 pieces of supermarket cheese, a piece of brie, ham, cucumber tomato and two fried eggs can't take such an amount of time. Additionally when the food came they only brought 3 of the breakfasts, making one of our friends wait for 15 minutes more before we told them we wanted the last one fast or we would not pay anything. Also the price was extremely high for the quality and the amount of food; 25 euros for the breakfast attached here made me feel a little bit scammed. We will...
Read moreWe ordered one schnitzel and one Flammkuchen, and everything tasted amazing. However, there was an issue with the service that left us feeling quite disappointed.
My mom wanted to take her meal home, as she had to leave early, so we asked for a takeaway. The waitress said she would handle it. But only a few minutes later, she returned to inform us that the chef had misunderstood and thrown the Flammkuchen away. She apologized, but that was the end of it.
While we understand that mistakes can happen, this situation was not handled well—especially considering we had paid full price for the Flammkuchen. In these cases, it’s customary to offer compensation or at least an alternative to ensure the customer is satisfied. Simply apologizing without any effort to make things right felt inadequate and unprofessional.
The food was fantastic, but the lack of hospitality in this situation was disappointing. A gesture of compensation would have gone a long way. We hope the team can improve in this regard to match the quality of the food with...
Read moreit was not easy to get through on the phone. finally got through after trying all morning and got a reservation easily for the afternoon the cafe is a short walk from the Dom Parkhaus , in case you need to park your car. Otherwise the U Bahn station is also just a short walk. We found our way to the cafe and were greeted and seated immediately. The atmosphere was really nice and relaxed.
the lady who greeted us was very welcoming and helpful with the menu. they even made a change to the food order after we had placed the order, without any objection or fuss.
food was nice and tasty and fresh ! we ordered flammkuchen with sucuk, Römer breakfast, südländer breakfast, white hot chocolate with foam (very yum. not great if you don’t want a sugary drink). All meat is Halal here, except of course the bacon which is Pork.
The washrooms were not in a great state. And being on the river in the summer is really nice, but it can get a bit smelly :)
thank you Mainkai Cafe for a nice birthday experience! we will be...
