Vipho — Restaurant in Frankfurt

The food in the place is quite decent. However, the service is really bad and we were forced and being tricked to pay the tips. I went there with my family in-law and we were not thinking of giving tips as Germans generally would ask for, because the service was so so. By the time we were paying with cards, the payment showed different tipping options, since my father-in-law was not used to this system and it was all in German, he was hesitating and trying to find his way out. Meanwhile, the waiter just pressed 10% tipping options for him!!! That left us without choice and felt being tricked as tourists!!! Apart from that, points that we were not satisfied for the service: e.g. the staff who served our food just put the plates on the table without explaining the dish name to us and we were confused with who ordered which. After eating, the waiters came to collect the plates immediately even if some of us just finished the last bite and some were still eating, and without asking if it's ok to take away the plate, despite there was still a bit of food left on the plate. We really felt unfair with the tipping situation in general and hope it will not happen to other non-German...

I HAD THE WORST EXPERIENCE IN VIPHO. Actually I like this restaurant. The food is so nice and this place looks very romantic. I visit sometimes this restaurant for dinner. However, today, I had the worst experience in Vipho. Usually, I pay the cost of the meal with tip in Germany. “Paying the Tip” is up to me. But today, the woman who works in this restaurant demanded me pay the cost of meal with tip. I didn’t get kindly service tonight because they were so busy. So, I put the tip just some coins. Then the woman said, “you should pay the tip for 10% of your cost”. Actually, Tip is from USA. I lived in Canada for more than 2 years, so I really know the Tip culture. And the tip is just culture. You guys must have not required the tip. I think, It’s illegal. I already paid the cost of meal with 19% tax. And your salary is included your service. I still feel bad when I write this one. I don't wanna go...

Went here with the family and we had an Overall great experience. The menu is very varied but still focused, it offers something for everyone and is also very suitable for veggies and vegans (which is very important if all of us go for a meal) But you are never overwhelmed with choice and all the dishes seem to be well thought out. Can recommend the sharing starter platter which had a great selection however the sweet and savory sensation of the tender pork belly was most certainly the star. As a main I had the duck breast with red curry which was also great. The duck was tender, crispy and luckily still slightly pink in the middle, this together with the only mildly spicy curry fit so well with the off dry Rose wine I had with it.
