I first went to Waxy’s for a 21st Birthday party in January. We had booked for 20 people at 8:30pm , and they reserved a large table for us in the upstairs section. The waiter Elvis showed us to our seats and made us feel very welcome, explaining the covid rules, that when more of us arrived, they would reserve the tables around us when other guests would leave so not to have too many in a cramped space.
Elvis was a great waiter, stopping to chat made all the difference for our night. He also wowed everyone with his card tricks! The other waiting staff on the night were very friendly, including the staff behind the bar who certainly made the extra effort for the birthday.
I returned again to watch the Ireland vs France 6 Nations game, a very busy day for Waxys. The security outside were helpful to those waiting in line, scanning all their covid passes and informing them of the wait times to get in.
Inside was an ideal atmosphere, rowdiness for the game, but you could still have a conversation with the people around you without being drowned out. Elvis stopped by to say hello to us again, and the service was great again all around.
We didn’t book enough seats inside for the night, but the security guard did his best to find a solution for us, securing two of the outside tables for our group, once again a great effort was made for us. Can’t recommend Waxy’s enough whether you are thinking of going for a few quiet drinks, a social event or for...
Read moreThis is an Irish bar nearby the hotel I was staying.
On my first visit I wasn't sure of how things worked - the pub was quite crowded with football playing on the screens (Frankfurt were 1-0 down at half time) and the bar is at the far end but the barman there found me an empty table near the front they'd be over to take orders.
There was a nice but excitable crowd in (particularly when Frankfurt equalised then won in the second half) yet despite the quantity of patrons the service was still fast and efficient, with waiters getting around people to take orders and replenishing drinks frequently. I just had a snack of wings and salad with two good beers, and found it a good place to relax.
Sadly, this quality of service was inconsistent: I returned a few nights later and found the pub semi-full, told by a barman that upstairs was closed but sit at a downstairs table anyway and someone would be over... but I noted there were only two waitress and they were barely seen on the floor.
After being overlooked for 20 mins... I left to go elsewhere - I found it strange that service was pretty effective when they were busy but seemed to lack the staff when partly-empty.
Despite the good snack I received on my previous visit, I don't feel a compelling reasons to...
Read moreThe pub is nice with great atmosphere. It is a good place to watch sports games. tons of screens so wherever you sit, you can see the game. There is a variety of good drinks and food . Most of the staff are nice and helpful, however this one server, has a very unfriendly attitude against certain customers.
First of all, I wasn’t finished with my drink, but it looked as if it were almost empty and the server did not ask if he could take the empty glass but instead, he just poked the glass to see if it was empty or not, I tried to understand this kind of behavior since it was a game night and super busy,
but the most rude thing happened when I got my second drink, instead of handing me the drink, or putting it down on the table, like a normal server would do - he shoved the tray with the drink to my face and insisted that I should take it by myself. This action even shocked the other guests around us, because this kind of attitude was only shown to us, and not to the other guests.
I would have understood this behavior if it were to all of the customers but he was friendly to others and rude to us, which is intolerable. If one doesn’t like to serve a certain type of customers, then i think this type of person should not work in this...
