The food was great! One of the biggest pizzas i've ever eaten. And it was delicious !
The atmosphere is great, i like that there is seating by the water, on the terrasse, by the bar, on couches and even by the kitchen. It gives a lot of different options if there's the space.
We showed up without reservation but not even half the restaurant was filled. It was quite empty. We stood in at the "please wait to be seated" sign for approximately 10 minutes in which we were repeatedly ignored by a blonde waitress who eyed us several times but did not see it important to even adress us as she walked past us. Disappointing for such a beautiful restaurant.
When we were seated it seemed as if the many service people who were working did not want to actually be there. 80% if the time they all stood by the bar and chatted with each other. In all three interactions ( taking our order, serving us and payment) the service people seemed annoyed. There was one very nice man working who did excellent service, so thank you for whoever you may be. I myself come from service and I understand your can have a bad day or be very tired. It's a tiring industry, but please don't make the guest feel it as well. Halfway through the meal I wanted to order a new drink and needed a few more napkins. The waitress unfortunately speed walked past us and every other customer every time so it was not possible for me to order anything else. What I really did like, was the open kitchen. Everything was open to see for the guest. Very clean and organized kitchen. The server taking our order did take my order right ( I excluded a few ingredients and put others instead), I believe that it the bare minimum, since there is a page for exactly that, additions.
Maybe I just picked the wrong day to eat there, but in conclusion the food was great, the atmosphere was also great but service could...
Read moreI put one stars because the service was good, our waitress was really nice and welcoming. And an additional because they are one of the only restaurant in the neighborhood offering truly 0.0% alcohol free beers (a detail, but I appreciated that).
Unfortunately the food was really not at the level we were expecting. For starters, we order Bruschetta: the bread was burnt and the "ash-y" taste was overpowering everything else. Tomatoes were floury with no taste at all. I am not even sure they put any garlic on it. It was really a disappointment. Additional salt and olive oil did nothing. On the pizza, I ordered a Capricciosa (my favorite type) and here again, what a disappointment! The only thing with some taste were the kalamata olives. The whole pizza (twice the size of the plate, a nightmare to cut) was simply and painfully bland. I hoped that some chili oil would help but what a mistake! I am not sure there is any chili in the base of said oil. It vaguely tasted like tomato maybe? But it definitely didn't save the pizza. Note that I am pregnant, and my taste-buds are really sensitive at the moment due to that, so usually no strong taste would still do wonder with me. It was so bland that it didn't even made it past my condition... Overall, nice service, but I would not recommend for the food, which is a shame for a restaurant!
Based on other reviews, maybe this particular day was a miss? But it still was bad enough that I won't make...
Read moreI would recommend to go there only if you have a looooooooot of time. We went there on a Sunday around 2PM, four persons, looking for nice food. We stopped at L'Osteria, knowing that the food is usually good, and we sat on the terrace. We ordered quite fast, and we got our drinks almost immediately. Then We had to wait 25 min for the antipasti to come. The waitress apologised for the delay. Ok, not bad, let enjoy the food. Well... more than 30 min later, and since our ghost waitress was nowhere to be seen, we had to go to the other waiter to complain. Sure enough he gave us the easy answer "ha yes, but my colleague is taking care of your table, not me".. after some back and forth, he decided to "investigate" and came back 2 min later with 2 of our dishes, probably ready for some time now, but still didn't give any explanations or excuses.. 5 min later, our ghost waitress was back - woohoo- to bring the two last plates and the addition. Except enquiring if we were enjoying the food, she said nothing. No apologise, no explanation, nothing. The two stars are for the food and the nice location. Obviously the service was really bad. I would add that I was there with friends coming to see me in Hamburg - they sure didn't have the best experience at L'Osteria. I wouldn't recommend this place as you can imagine, except if it's ok for you to wait on an empty...
