The best Thai restaurant I've ever been to outside of Thailand!
Sala Thai is a really authentic Thai restaurant. As soon as you enter, you can feel the Thai flair through the furnishings with lots of plants, wooden decorations and typical Thai decorations everywhere. The owners are also Thai and greet you in a very friendly manner.
We ended up here by chance on our trip to Hamburg and couldn't have found a better restaurant for our first evening here. We have spent most of the last 5 years in Southeast Asia, mainly in Thailand, which of course taught us to love typical Thai cuisine. Back in Germany, it was very difficult to find a good Thai restaurant, let alone one that tastes almost exactly like Thai food (understandable, of course).
We were more than impressed by the Sala Thai Restaurant. The food here tastes simply excellent, almost like in Thailand itself. We had a massaman curry with tofu and beef with Thai basil as well as mango sticky rice for dessert. And everything was simply divine!
I haven't eaten so well for a long time. Not only is the food here first class, but also the whole ambience, the service and the staff. Almost as if we were really in Thailand.
And best of all, the Sala Thai Restaurant has even been recognized by the Thai government and certified as authentic Thai food from Thailand. The numerous certificates and awards hang on the wall downstairs.
I can't praise this restaurant enough. For anyone who loves authentic real Thai food, I can wholeheartedly recommend Sala Thai. It's the best I've eaten in a long time. 5...
Read moreIf you're a Thai food enthusiast seeking an authentic experience, Sala Thai in Hamburg may not be the ideal choice. However, for those new to Asian cuisine, this restaurant could serve as a decent introduction.
The food, unfortunately, falls short of expectations, warranting only a two-star rating. The Tom Yum soup lacked the signature blend of spices and the creaminess of coconut milk that one would expect. Moreover, the overall taste of the dishes leaned more towards Vietnamese than genuine Thai cuisine.
On a positive note, the service at Sala Thai was commendable, with the waiters being polite and kind throughout the meal. The pleasant ambiance also adds to the dining experience, earning a respectable four-star rating.
Despite these positive aspects, the major drawback lies in the high prices, which may leave diners feeling unsatisfied and questioning the value for money.
In conclusion, Sala Thai may be a suitable starting point for newcomers to Asian cuisine, but those in search of authentic Thai flavors might want to explore other options. While the restaurant offers pleasant service and a beautiful atmosphere, the underwhelming food quality and expensive prices ultimately limit its appeal to a...
Read moreI recently dined at Sala Thai Restaurant on my last visit in Germany, and it was truly a gastronomic experience to remember. Nestled in a cozy corner of the city, this Thai restaurant is a hidden gem that offers an authentic taste of Thailand right here in Hamburg Germany.
The ambiance of the restaurant was warm and inviting, with traditional Thai decor and soft lighting that created a serene atmosphere. The attentive and friendly staff made me feel welcome and guided me through the menu, which was extensive and filled with tempting options.
The food at Sala Thai Restaurant was an explosion of flavors that left my taste buds dancing with delight. I started with the Tom Kha Gai, a classic Thai coconut milk soup with tender chicken, lemongrass, and galangal, which was rich and tangy with just the right amount of spiciness
Overall, I highly recommend Sala Thai Restaurant to anyone who craves authentic Thai cuisine. From the welcoming ambiance to the delightful flavors of the dishes, it was an unforgettable dining experience that left me yearning to...
