Following a very poor experience last year (and also reviewed here on this site), I thought I’d return with a guest to visit this superbly located venue.  To be fair, the service experience had changed – unbelievably it had become even worse. Having had our menus dumped on the table by the less than interested waiter in a one third full restaurant, we ordered a couple of drinks followed by a pizza and a dish of tortellini.  After a lengthy wait, the tortellini arrived – freshly prepared parcels of pasta had neatly covered an older layer of tortellini underneath. Enough said.  The pizza looked ok although some light industrial engineering equipment would have added to the dining experience to enable the base of the pizza to be cut. Throughout, the waiter could not have been less interested. For desert all that was required was a simple dish of vanilla ice cream – we knew such a component existed as ‘vanilla ice cream’ featured as the special dish listed on the chalkboard displayed.    When the vanilla ice cream was requested, the waiter said he’d add fruit and raspberry sauce – no, all we wanted was plain vanilla ice cream.  After a further three requests clearly and politely confirming we simply wanted one small dish of vanilla ice cream, the waiter said ‘crazy’ in German and went away muttering more German profanities as he disappeared towards the kitchen area.  Approximately 10 minutes later he reappeared with a dish of vanilla and chocolate ice cream with wafers and sauce.  Incredible. Sadly, despite a fantastic setting in both winter and summer, the overall experience is terrible, sad, frustrating and very disappointing.  Food is well below average, staff service seems to reflects a desire they have to work elsewhere and there is an overall atmosphere where customers seem to be interrupting some other profession that the employees would rather be undertaking.  Don’t waste your money or your time at this Restaurant as Heidelberg (and Haupstrasse) has so many wonderful venues, restaurants and facilities that will enhance your visit.

Very tasty lasagna and beer in a peaceful environment. 🤤 Also, the waiter was very kind! I sat outside with a nice garden view, there was no background noice which was nice. Also, the portion was really big even two can share one lasagna. The price was okay for this nice local beer and lasagna. I paid 20€s. Overall, I definitely recommend it here!

Very nice place to eat and get away from the business of the main street. Although this is located on that street it's placed in this beautiful garden away from all the noise. Very good food and really nice and educated staff. Very much recommend this place.

TOTAL DISASTER! This place is a hot mess. The location and terrace is very inviting and the food once you finally get it, is average to above average and all in all good value for money. However, this is where the positive aspects end and the deluge of negative begin. The wait staff has no supervision or leadership and is in total disarray from the start. IF there is someone to greet you and IF they happen to be in a good mood, they might arrange a table for you. It takes forever to get a member of staff to take your order and then anything to drink within any decent time frame. Our order consisted of two different salads on offer a cola and a bottle of still water. One hour and 20 minutes later neither had arrived at the table. When asked the waiter blamed it in the kitchen staff and then very rudely and abruptly walked away. Shortly after the drinks and salads did arrive albeit one was not as ordered and when this was told to the waiter his highly disrespectful and aggressive response resulted in a verbal argument heard by most patrons of the restaurant. He refused to correct the order or acknowledge that a mistake had been made. He then stormed into the kitchen where yelling between he and the kitchen staff could be heard by everyone. In the end what could have been a good experience turned into a total disaster and my recommendation to spend your hard earned money elsewhere where you as a guest are welcome and...

Ja, was soll ich sagen. Nie wieder so...
