Essighaus — Restaurant in Heidelberg

The service is so, so, so bad... We went inside and had to wait in the salon for 15 minutes and nobody showed(it was raining outside).. later on the rain stopped and we went to the Biergarten and there was the waitress. When we asked for our reservation she said to go over there and there should be enough space for everyone.. she came 15 minutes later to bring the menu. We asked about light because it was pretty dark and she said that the light is not working. So we had to use our phone lights to see the menu and later on to see the food. Unbelievable! She was pretty arrogant! She came 3 times to the table: 1: bring the menus 2. Bring the drinks 3 bring the food. At the end I went to ask if we could pay and she said that we (all 10 single people) need to go to the bar, because she doesn't see anything at the table. Really?!? Amazing portion size and very tasty food. Unfortunately as soon as our waiter found out we were English his demeanor became very cold, when taking our orders he did not write anything down and came back with the wrong beer and my girlfriend got a different main course. In 2 weeks of interrailing this is the only restaurant where we did not leave a tip. It was much better when it was operated by an older woman,! Then is was great, good prices, on dependable quality food,!
