Drop by the restaurant to have my fix of the haxn (Schweinshaxe) and beer. The atmosphere there was great, every bit Bavarian and there was a live music band next to the long table where I sat. The band included a harp, an accordion, and possibly a guitar. They played once in a while and was very pleasant to listen to, not loud or overwhelming, and you can continue to have a conversation. The haxn was superb, the crackling was crispy, the meat fell off the bone, a corner was slightly burnt and quite hard but that was the way haxn was everywhere in München - no complaint here. The beer was great - taste is a subjective matter and it was quite to my taste. The service was good. I mentioned I was there for haxn and beer at the door and that's all. Haven't been travelling for a while due to the pandemic, I forgot I did not need to "formally" get a menu and put in the order after sitting down, so I unnecessarily - probably caused a bit of annoyance - by enquiring if my order was in, lol. One disappointment though: when two men apparently on a business trip sat down right next to me on the long table, they were asked if they wanted "man size or lady size" beer. They were clearly taken aback by such mindset of the waiter and his using such toxic idea of male masculinity in an attempt to pressure them to get the larger, "man size" beer. Not to say the blatant disrespect of other patrons sitting at the same table. They didn't fall for it and ordered whatever they liked, good on them. I'd say I may give the restaurant a second chance but if I see that happen again, I will go for a different restaurant. So the waiter invited a cutdown to 2 stars for service due to such unpleasantry. Overall, I'd visit again but hope I'd not hear such outdated disrespectful words from the people...
Read moreFood was nice but incredibly rude waiter ruined the whole experience. Have found from personal experience and from other reviews that the staff are extremely hostile toward tourists. If you aren't German then probably avoid
We're on holiday in Munich and usually like to spend a few hours eating and drinking at lunchtime and this place looked nice and we wanted the pork knuckle which was delicious and a very big portion for the price
Unfortunately we had a very rude waiter tending us outside. He slammed a tray of food and drinks on top of the menu I was reading without saying anything and proceeded to hand the food and drinks to tables around us.
ordered some drinks which came out quickly and we ordered the pork while he delivered our drinks. Paid for drinks but the waiter didn't give us our change and just walked off with €4. We hoped it was a mistake and agreed we wouldn't tip when he brought the bill for food seeing as he already had stolen €4 from us
He counted the money for the mains and loudly and sarcastically said "WOW! Thank you so much for your tip sir" and when we offered to give him a few extra euros he said "well, would be nice" at which point we put away our wallets and said he wasn't getting a tip
some locals sitting next to us commented on how rude he was treating us and were also quite shocked
Needless to say we didn't end up spending a few hours drinking in there and left as soon as we'd eaten and couldn't wait to get away from the horrible man
It's a shame because all the other staff were fine and the food was nice as well as nice building but 1 bad member of staff can really ruin the whole...
Read moreThis was our first meal in Germany after seeing a recommendation on TikTok.
The service to begin with was slow it said ‘wait and we will seat you’, so we waited outside the door for around 5/10 minutes.
We didn’t have a reservation, but the people behind us did, so they were let in ahead of us, fair enough. A member of staff asked them if me and the person I was with, would like to share? To which they said no, which we understood.
We finally got shown to a table and served by a friendly waiter (I can’t remember their name).
The service was okay, we weren’t given English menu’s so we had to go over to the desk to collect these ourselves and the waiter was surprised that we collected them as we were waiting.
The food tasted lovely, but it wasn’t that hot, we sat beside where they bring the food out and I seen a few dishes being left under the heated lamp waiting to be collected for quite a while at times.
We ordered a coke and a Lemonade, I think we got the end of the barrel as our drinks tasted flat which wasn’t great.
Our waiter was very friendly which improved our experience.
However, I didn’t like that they give you the bill and on the bill, they write tip at the bottom of the bill. You are given a pen to write the amount you would like to tip!.. Each cultures different, however from my culture this is considered very rude and impolite!
Studying psychology and human interaction, I understand there is a tactic behind giving the pen and feeling obligated to give a tip as the pen is an unspoken rule, a gesture to comply…
Other than this, we enjoyed our time here and the waiter made it a...
